A wonderful actor, fantastic client and most importantly an amazing Ambassador for scooters for 60 years.
I will share a couple great scooter stories after some reflection.
RIP Mr. Hagman and God bless your wife and family.

Rest in Peace.
Linda and I were shocked to hear of his passing. If you don't know, Larry was a true pioneer in scootering. He shared many of his stories with David at VSO. It was through David that we heard some of the most amazing stories. When he is ready i hope he will share them with us. |

Besides being a very good actor, from all accounts he was a good person too.
He was very well liked. There are plenty of stories of his warmth, generosity and humor. RIP. |

Larry seemed like he was a good person. Never met him but he was always looked on favorably. He had his demons and over came them. Lived a good long life. RIP.

I just read a Reuters report of his death. Not to be irreverent, for I like to remember people as they were, and to laugh, be amazed, be shocked, however it is.
From the article, he lived up to his moto as displayed on a flag at his home, "Vita Celebratio Est (Life Is a Celebration)" This bit I found amusing, and can think of a number who'd want to go to that party. "Hagman told the Times that after death he wanted his remains to be "spread over a field and have marijuana and wheat planted and harvest it in a couple of years and then have a big marijuana cake, enough for 200 to 300 people. People would eat a little of Larry."" |

I won't divulge much however I can say what most are saying that Larry was an amazing spirit and really really fun guy. Do a Wiki search on him, pretty entertaining on many fronts.
I do know he bragged and always chuckled about rolling around London on a 50 cc Vespa in the early 50's courting his future wife Maj and having the time of their lives. He had many motorcycles and scooters over the years, his last scooter was a Piaggio MP3 250. He traded an Aprilia 500 for it and was just thrilled to own it. I know he took it to a few awards shows (red carpet), once he called in a panic because the battery was dead and he had 2 hours to get there, we hooked him up. I recall Larry to be just a bit of a potty mouth, always in the right context. When he called up to confirm his vin number for insurance purposes I started reading it off to him and around the 10th digit he cut me off and said "Fuck, David, how long is this thing" and I replied "17 digits Larry, relax buddy, we are almost there". He laughed out loud. A good good man..... A pretty good view from the Santa Monica penthouse New home Joy Priceless smile of pure passion for their new scooter The best part of that day was him telling me "David, my neighbor has this little pocket bike that won't start, you ARE taking it with you to repair." Against my better judgement I took it, lmao. He traded it in the next day for a Vespa. Oh man good times....... Best, David

I guess it's because I'm older; but it blows my mind that there was hardly a mention of his mother, Mary Martin, who was a great big important star. Sic transit gloria (All fame is fleeting), which is what I tell myself when I rationalize not being a household name.
