Hi all
I have one of these fitted to my scoot and is in poor condition..

I have aquired one of these(brand new) to replace the existing one.

Note the differences in the air scoop/induction...a different plastic cowling/scoop
I have seen these fitted to various gt/gts models and am wondering if it will fit providing it has the appropriate plastic scoop.

I have a 2007 125 LEADER 4V Carb engine fitted.

Any help would be very welcome..

Thanks
Shaun..

The lower one looks identical to the one one the X9 125 I've sitting in the back yard. The X8 has 14" wheels I believe, like the X9, so as long as all the screw holes line up you should be good with the right air scoop and internal air filter.

You've got your answer. No need for concern anymore. I love MV.

The lower one is for a type of scoop that goes up into the bodywork. Early GT125/GT200 models used that version, and (I think) the ETs as well.

After a year or two of that scoop on the GT200, they changed it for the type of scoop seen on the upper cover, which apparently does a better job of funneling air to the transmission. I don't think the ET ever changed, because it was discontinued around the same time.

The bottom line is that the upper cover probably does a better job of getting air into the transmission. But Jim is right -- from a mechanical perspective, they'll both work, as long as you have the right scoop.

Oh, one final detail: the ET/LX/GT transmission cover has a brass bushing inside the cover to hold the starter gear in place. The GTS cover, which is otherwise identical to the later version of the GT cover, lacks that brass bushing. You definitely need the bushing for a GT.

Thanks for the info all.
Jess
The New one I have has a brass collar in it for the starter.
But it does appear that the intake scoop may point in a different direction.
