Ok guys I thought I might start a new topic to get away from my other downer topic. Id like to gather as much info as I can to become informed.
Basicly I'd like to know what complete motor would fit into a vbb frame also what cases can I use for my 1963 150 cc vbb guts from the crappy cases I have, I realize I'm going to need a crank and top end as mine have seen better days. example what year to what year motor will bolt on and what size motor can bolt on etc.
Also where would be a good place to start looking for engine cases or entire engine?
Also what to look for in the cases as this will need to be purchased online ,other than the obvious rotary pad condition.
Thanks

Basically any largeframe motor from around 1959 up until now will fit straight into the frame

You'll have to sort out what to do with the wheel size though. A PK-fork will give you 10" up front, and most large frame motors would be 10", though there are ways of converting them down to 8".

I've just ordered a second hand px125 engine from Spain for 250EUR. I bet he has a few more. PM me for information if your interested in that.

As you're already replacing the motor, you might as well go for a PX motor with proper EFL gearing, electronic ignition and 12v electrics.

PX200 motors tend to be quite expensive, while PX125 motor are alot cheaper.

I'm a sucker for p125/150 motors. They are cheap, easily converted to electronic ignition and easy to fit performance parts to if that's your bag. I also don't think the gearing is bad for a tuned motor if you stay in town.

What's wrong with buying things from Israel? I have purchased some excellent products from there and have always been dealt with professionally and with the utmost respect.

We actually have some terrific customers in Israel. And we have had a few bring us some vintage accessory treasures from there. Two years ago, one of our customers came to Los Angeles for the summer and worked in the shop in exchange for parts he needed for his Super back home.

One of our dear friends is in Jerusalem right now, has been there for the past two weeks, helping educate, feed, entertain and keep safe children living there. We wish Brandon a safe journey and eventual return.

I think the error might be with Voodoo for the assumption that anything other than a glowing report of anything from Israel is some back-handed attempt at anti-Semitism.

I think an apology to Lynnb may be in order for making people thinking he doesn't like Israel because Jews live there.

This is the stupidest thing I have yet seen on MV, and this includes the shit about chewing gum and crying while buying ice cream. Before this goes any further people should take pause and review such idiotic assumptions.

That was kind of what I meant in part, but more a misunderstanding in the my interpretation. I ordered something from Australia once and it took over a mount to get here and that was there fast boat.

One of my best buddies I worked with was from israel, trust me when I say I'm the furthest thing from being predujudice and if there are any folks here on MV I will be kind enough to appolgize for any misunderstaning, nothing at all was meant by my comment.

Let's not forget our very own Treppenwitz, who sent everyone some very cool rollup saddlebags made near him for the cost of the bag + shipping.

I ordered two, one as a present, and though he shipped them the same day, one took 1.5 weeks, the other close to 4. Who the hell knows why?

I bet the shipping to Canada would cost more than the cost of engine, I think I will need to stay within North America to make it worth the while.
Thanks

Sorry if I caused a bump in the road, just seemed something I reacted to from the way it was said. I'm NOT sorry for the result of getting it cleared up, we have enough trouble with ppl not liking some kinds of scooters.

Most ppl here know we order stuff from overseas all the time, so I couldn't get the 'funney' & 'lol' part. But Lynn is new and prone to disagreeing with well intentioned suggestions, so perhaps I was dumb and this was the stupidest thing I have yet posted on MV, and this includes the shit about chewing gum and crying while buying ice cream. Before this goes any further people should take pause and review their idiotic assumptions.

I think you would be better looking for 2 port cases. Use what you can from yours. Stick with 8" wheels. Don't go down the modification path with your tired frame. Furthermore I'd embrace the bodgey paint, indicators and toolbox. Spend only on essentials and safety. Enjoy it as a fun putt about while it lasts. Gotta admire your never say die attitude.

For example. (I don't have the expertise to vouch for the suitability of these cases.)

Yes supernaut that does look like a decent set of cases although for one thing it makes me leery when the seller only post one picture and the other is its coming from the land down under which is very expensive shipping. Matter of economics, my crank is baffed, top end I'm not satisfied with so add the cost if crank and top end with casings plus shipping I'm better to line up either a motor complete or at least a set of good cases with good shipping cost to upper Michigan and then add the overhaul kit. All this is just prepurchase research until I get the chassis blasted.

You know Voodoo sent me a link for those and I looked at them once and couldn't get back in the site again.
That is a good price but here's the sitiuation, the crank journals have been centre punched and the cylinders and pistons need servicing so as it stands I would need basicly an overhaul kit which would cover all that I need, basicly that would be 90 for the case plus shipping plus the kit so I'm working on putting together a motor with a kind gent on line.
But thanks for keeping an eye open I really appreciate it

Well the sprint is usually 2-port, some of the later ones where three port. Power is about the same for the 3 port version. They're 6v and don't have EFL-gearing.

Really, if your replacing the motor, go for a PX (or a P) unless that sprint motor is really cheap.

Speaking of shipping from the middle east; back in 2006 I shipped a px200 motor from Beirut to Oslo. That was nearly 400EUR just in shipping, but the price of the motor itself was so cheap it was still worth it.

I can use some information. What is the differnce between a 180 Ralley opened up for a 200 topend and a 150 Sprint engine?
Also are gas tank with the oil injection difficult to locate and pricey? I have an option to have the Ralley with oil injection.
Really I'm speaking geek talk as I type so would appreciate some feedback so I can learn which way to go.

A rally 180 engine is it's own animal and a lot of parts do not cross between the other LF motors. I vote the $90 P125 motor or any 3 port motor. You can still keep the 8's but have a bit more snort to get you going. Just build it with a 3 port 150 topend and you'll be golden.
