Seat Repair Roundtable
Thank you, good idea! I'll be watching this one. I'm gonna go get some pics.
I want to hear from Magg & see more of his pics too. |

You can find foam, most larger cities will have a foam warehouse of some sort. You will have to take the piece you have with you when you visit in order to get the same density. As far as shaping it to form, I have always used a cheap electric carving knife, works good and fast. The foam you have now does not look that bad. Unless it is all crumbly or smelly, I would reuse it.

You could try putting a thing layer of soft foam on top of what you have there and then put a new cover over it. |

I once read a post recommending to use a piece of foam you put under your sleeping bag while camping.

Your options could be this... http://s597.photobucket.com/albums/tt51/bfnj5j8/Blue%20Badge%20Restoration/Blue%20Badge%20Seat%20project/ If you need some of the dense foam padding and the batting, I have some left over. ⚠️ Last edited by Abuello on UTC; edited 1 time

currently redoing a seat or two...
there's a local shop called "the friendly foam shop" -- they can match the piece of foam in there. I'm re using the rubber mat. as for the vinyl, there is a local shop that supplies marine vinyl (seattle fabrics). they even have glittery vinyl. just taking apart what's left of the original seat cover, tracing it, and cutting the new vinyl and sewing it together. I get crap from my girlfriend for saying this, but it's pretty simple. you can even buy pre-made replacement covers online (like scooterwest.com) for most seats. I'm even going the extra mile and redoing the "P I A G G I O" sticker in the badge on the back of the seat. |
