Modern Vespa

Hi all,

I know there are a few threads regarding the Tucano Urbano Thermoscud/Termoscud, but I wanted this to be specific to the BV350 for other current/future owners.

I ordered mine from the UK and installed it on Thursday.

First impressions:

• Installation is a bit cumbersome. I imagine it will be easier with practice.
• The shape of the glove box door is not convenient with the Thermoscud. I hope that the material loosens up a bit so that I can get more access to this. At this point, I've stopped storing anything in here, since it's a bit of a pain to stash things or get them out.
• I've yet to fill up with gas, but I think that this may be cumbersome as well.
• My legs don't get so cold, since it keeps a lot of the wind from directly hitting my legs and it keeps more of the heat from the radiator under the Thermoscud for a bit longer.
• I was worried it would interfere with my feet when stopping or taking off. Now, I'm satisfied with the way that the Thermoscud is installed and confident that it won't interfere with my legs.
• The Thermoscuds for the Vespa have a security ring that allows you to use a cable lock with the security loop built into the frame of the Vespa. This one does not have one, since the BV350 does not have a security loop. However, if anyone wants to steal it, it will take them a few minutes since it uses existing BV panel screws to secure it in place or they can cut off the straps at these points. Overall, I like it. Today was a blustery (20+ mph winds) day in NYC, and I was riding on the FDR with barely a slight chill on my legs. Yet, I really miss using the glove box, but I'll give it another week before I try using it again. One of the things that Tucano Urbano can do to alleviate this may be to add full-length weatherproof zippers at the seams at the top of the legs. This way, one would be able to fold the upper part up on to the dash, making it easier to access the glove box and the fuel cap. Tucano Urbano, are you listening?
