My Rivco pegs (black) arrived over the weekend and now just waiting for an above-freezing day so we can get the brackets and pegs on without incurring frostbite.

Larry, did you see the pegs that Planejane bought? (the very last photo in the footpeg FAQs at MP3 Footpeg Brackets - SOLD OUT)
I did, and they're actually similar to the ones I decided on except there's a horizontal seam in the center of the rubber strips. I'm uncertain what function that might play other than styling but they're priced exactly the same at the dealer where I ordered mine. At first glance I thought they might be the Switchblade model but they're not. I'd be curious to learn what that's all about if anyone actually knows?

BTW, for anyone who's in the market for foot pegs I did a ton of surfing on all the usual web sites and Cruiser Customizing has a huge selection, more so than EBay, Amazon, MCSS, etc. Before placing my order I called them to confirm I was getting the right thing and found their sales rep to be both helpful and knowledgeable about the various models. When it came time to order I carped about paying for shipping and she immediately applied a $10 certificate that more than covered the cost. Nice!

So there ya go, film at eleven...

Planejane told me she paid $65, and that they were already assembled to fit 3/8" (no adapters needed)...I have been looking for them for that price ever since and would snap such a deal up in a heartbeat.

I think she found them at some store, maybe a closeout sale?

The switchblades would, in my opinion (which, if I may say so, at least in this case consitutes an expert opinion) push one's feet out too far. Besides the safety issue (what IF, just what IF, you needed to make an instant emergency swerve - would you really be able to think fast enough to get your feet off one peg location and up to the other?) they would increase the side load off the UFP bumper and possibly bend the bracket ear over time. But the switchblades did play a part in the history of the UFP - it's what prompted me to invent the /XT model, whose extra, horizontal entension hole serves somewhat the same role as a switchblade.

The switchblades do have a very cool "x-factor" element, though!
