I'm curious to see if anyone is still riding a stock bike, no extras, no bling,no top case, still has the original exhaust and lights only. and has been riding it this way for more than a year.

How many of you are there?

(and, no I'm not selling anything)

Does it count if all I did was de-bling it (plasti-dipped the plasti-chrome) and get rid of US DOT reg crap? I thought of that as returning the bike to stock

I'm close. Bone stock GT200 with the exception of the Vespa full sized windscreen (bought with the bike) and a removable GIVI topcase (bought 3 years into ownership).

Everything but the current tires and the GIVI topcase are the OEM/OE that came with the bike. Also, I have all paperwork and manuals that came with the bike at the time of purchase.

Totally stock. Everything is Piaggio including the top box. Only thing ever done is touch up rock chips in the paint mostly on the front fender.

Box Stock
Pretty much as-delivered, including the sticker for the kick-start lever the bike (late '09 LXS) doesn't have. Contrary to the decal under the seat, I did obtain a pet. I do not plan to install the pet under the seat, though.

I have never failed to not modify my bikes.

I like to not modify little things like grips and levers.

Exhausts are another place to once again fail to (not) modify.

I do have a non modified(read blank canvas) scooter in my garage, it is sweet!

Hoping this does (not in any meaningful way) clarify everything

XOXO

I've had my bike since 06. I still have the warning labels.
Though, now that I think about it, I did run a line of reflective tape around the back edge of the bag carrier thing. Oh, and I got new tires last year.

I changed the front turn signals to the "Euro" style. Is that a mod? not really imho. I like my scoot the way it looks and plan to leave it that way. For those that want to change everything, that's their choice and if they are happy with the mods, more power to em.

Modded- a mod is anything that personalizes the bike to you, change it add that little option at the dealer, like a rack, modify the engine, light, horn, anything, even though most can't see it, its a mod. you may see a bike that looks stock, but only the owner would know for sure.

I find that the ET4's are the least likely to get modded for some reason. Sometimes you have no intention of spending extra on the bike, but then you go to a bike show or see something on someone else's scoot, and the bug hits.. Sometimes it's just a decal or it gets the full Quadrophenia treatment.
Most people end up changing something.

Maybe, if one uses the spelled-out term "modification", it becomes clearer what it really stands for.

That said, my red key is bone stock!

Yeah, not possible. Any design (of almost anything) is an exercise in compromise: cost, performance, economy, manufacturability, regional regulations, and so on. On top of that, everyone has a different use for their Vespa. To suppose that Piaggio got everything 100% right is to assume that we're all uniform consumers, exactly alike, with exactly the same needs, exactly the same roads, and exactly the same expectations about what we want to do with our bikes.

In other words, the very notion that Piaggio got everything "right" (whatever that means) is patently ridiculous, and I expect the designers at Piaggio would be the first to tell you the very same thing.

My 1980 P200e is bone stock (except for new tires). No changes to anything have been needed before it was mine and I don't anticipate needing to make any changes for myself.

My wife's ET4 is a different story. Custom paint, an aftermarket exhaust, a lower seat, and custom mirrors are changes she made first thing.

The insurance cop out, i'm facing is that they don't want to seem too recognize that we modify our bikes at all and that there is value to our mods. They will recognize that Harley owners do, but not a Vespa.
I think they need to watch Quadrophenia or look at some of the rally pictures that I've attended. ( or some of my receipts for add on's)

Would love some custom work done, but it's just not in the cards at the moment. I do have a large Givi windscreen on the way...eventually (pushed back to mid-Januaray now ).

One GT has a Leo Vince exhaust and Dr. Pulley sliders. Also all legal stickers plus front reflectors removed.

The other GT is dead stock.

The Malaguti has an Arrow exhaust to get the top speed over 40 mph.

Well said. Some of us are looking for economical transportation, some are looking for something unique. I can't remember ever owning a vehicle and not modifying it.

I'll join in as well Q

Too many mod's to remember them all, But I'll try.

Air horn is the most important one though,
Without which, A cabbie probably would have killed me by now.

The Leo Vince exhaust was a replacement of the useless stock Piaggio
exhaust that rusted out after two years.

Heated grips, Well, It's Canada.

GIVI Top case, Gotta store the helmet somewhere,
Too many helmet thefts in Toronto lately.

Front rack, A two-four of canned beer fits perfectly

Rear cowl crash bars and chromed front bumper,
Saved me a lot of money for body work from tip overs.

Knee pad 12 volt outlet wired direct to the battery,
Great for charging the battery, Running an air pump or the GPS

Changed stock GTS 250 seat for a Super 300 seat, Priceless.

Jettin bar end weights

YSS adjustable front and rear shocks,
Invaluable for stiffening up the bike, And getting rid of the front wobble.

The rest is just the usual, Tires, etc...

Good luck Q

Hope that helps

What a boring topic! Everyone posting about everything they didn't do. Argh! Wha? emoticon

No wonder it devolved into a discussion of actual mods! Laughing emoticon

For my part, I've been a busy little Vespa owner. My scoot, Badonka, now has chrome rear crash guards, a back rest, chrome front fender guard, headlight cowl, and alarm, an audible turn signal flasher, a radar detector, a custom license plate frame that reads "Nevada Scooter Brigade," a battery tender pigtail, a drink holder, a pet carrier bag, a glove box net, an O ring throttle lock, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree. And, I've only owned her 32 days! Laughing emoticon
