Well, I ordered the topcase when I purchased the bike. Does that count as riding a stock bike?

my LXV has an unintentional mod to it. Someone tried to steal it on Xmas Eve 2010 and broke off the bottom plastic trim in the process, what kind of idiot thieves tried to lift a bike by that?? I ordered replacement bits and reflectors but when I saw that adding the reflectors back on would require me to take a drill to this I decided to leave them off. So I'm rolling around town sans rear reflectors, that's the only "mod" done to this little beast.
Oh do little pits on the chrome count? Those could be "style enhancers"? |

I had a feeling that even given the topic that it would change into what we've done to our bikes. There's something about Vespa's that screams change me, just one more item.
it seems that the only time a vespa doesn't get changed is if it's not the only scooter in the stable, or the money just isn't there. Plus we like to talk about our bikes and what we've changed. There is a certain pride in the Vespa community that isn't there for the other brands in North America. |

Just not my personality. I'm happy with it as it is. There are many similar bikes here in NYC, but I don't think those riders are on here. I suspect that the riders who are on MV may be a self-selecting group in terms of wanting to add and talk about mods. The ones who aren't into that kind of thing are also less likely to post on a Vespa forum.

I have customized mine. But I will chime in anyway: OEM crashbars, Faco fender trim, wind screen, GPS, and side stand. In the future I plan on repowder-coating my extra rims aside from the usual annual OEM muffler paint job. My transmission case will be powder-coated as well. And then... I will stop!
In the past I used to do a lot of mods. I actually was a bit addicted to them. So I hold nothing against folks who "dress up" their scooters. The bone stock look is a classic look in itself so kudos to those who subscribe to it. |

None of my scooters has ever been pure stock. I've always done something to each of them. My current one has the topcase with an S type backrest to match the stock seat. I have a HID headlight, heated grips, LV pipe, smaller brake grips, flyscreen, Powerlet outlet and air horn.
