Haven't been on here much recently so I don't know if anyone has already picked this up........................

There is a rumour of a new PX 200 being shown at EICMA, the Italian bike show, from the 14th of November.
Now don't go getting all excited. It will be a 4 stroke fuel injected auto. Still with 19bhp it won't be slow. I know most people on this forum would prefer gears (and a 2T) but if it does appear at least it will have the look.

This was translated from Italian.

At the Milan Show scheduled for November, the brand Vespa is expected to present the PX Ages , or the evolution of a modern mythical 'Vespone'. This new version will complement, not replace, the classic Vespa PX with manual transmission 4-speed, dedicated mostly to the purists. In fact, in order to captivate the young, the Vespa PX Evo will be equipped with automatic speed change, combined with the 4-stroke engines 125ie with 14 hp and 200ie 19-hp.

Due to economies of scale with the other group models Piaggio , the PX Ages represent the proposed entry-level brand Vespa, because versions 125ie and 200ie will cost, respectively, EUR 2,990 and EUR 3,490 , in line with the direct competition. In addition, these technical solutions will enable the Vespa PX to return to the U.S. market, where the new Evo will certainly be more popular automatic version with manual gearbox.

In the past, it was proposed that the Automatic Vespa PK did not achieve the success hoped for aesthetics and the price too high, not for the lack of a manual gearbox. Driving pleasure and performance will be the right ingredients for the success of the Vespa PX Ages, perfect compromise between historicity and modernity. So, there will be dedicated to those who already have the PX, chosen by many more for the tax benefits of ownership of half period and nothing else.

The choice of the name as a suffix to the model PX Ages is eloquent and apt, because the natural evolution technique involves the brand Vespa, Vespa and some not evolgono and prefer to fall back on the LML Star, not knowing that the House will soon Indian automatic transmission , starting from Star Light 50 and 125.

19HP puts it in the 200GT range, definitely no slouch. I would be surprised if it is not as heavy either.

It is a wonderful mid range spot not served right now, the LX is bit anemic with 12HP

I forgot where I picked the info up from but it was a couple of weeks ago, before EICMA, and I had posted it my my scooter club's forum. I'm not trying to say this is true but have just posted it for interest.

When do they have a release date? Will it be released when that 946 thing is going to be released for us "normies" who refuse to pay over the top for a 150cc? And why didn't Vespa do this ages ago as people who don't like shifting for some reason or another and new people just getting into scooters seem to perfer automatics? (I know about the pk automatica but it was a different bike)....

I admit I was more than a little disappointed to not hear anything about a PXEvo in the EICMA reports.
