You guys drinking Kentucky Bourbon are drinking the watered down stuff. Get a bottle of this and hide the scooter keys. 53 cases annually, un-cut and unfiltered from the barrel to the bottle and smooth as silk. It's distilled by Buffalo Trace about 15 minutes from my place. This is true Kentucky sippin bourbon.

Scotch was my choice, but I became pissed off at the recent skyrocketing prices. I decided to protest by broadening my horizons.
It turns out that I like Rye Whiskey just fine. Not the Canadian rye...The "real" rye. Goodbye Glenlivet. Mar sin leibh an drà sda. Unfortunately, the PA State Store system has determined that 1) Only one (1) brand (Jim Beam) will be sold in the local store and that 2) Everyone will like it 3) Or Lump it. I guess I should call my sister in Ohio and see what the stores have there. In the meanwhile, I still have some Newcastle Brown Ale on hand that'll do just peachy. |

Tonight it's my special Filthy Martini. Coat the ice with dry vermouth and pour off any excess, add Bombay Sapphire, and shake. Drain into a chilled martini glass with exactly three garlic-stuffed olives and plenty of olive brine. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll trade some of the brine for a few grains of Maldon smoked salt.
Serve with sardines and crackers. Nom nom nom! |

Having a glass of last years limoncello. Been cycling through what's left of my batch and the several samples I have from Jess, trying to refine the recipe for the next batch.

Fortunately, I put a fresh infusion away last night, so in a few weeks I might actually have some more. Experimenting with lowering the proof slightly to see how that tastes. This one should come in at 80 to 83 proof. |

Some Mexican Wine from our recent trip to the wine valley in Baja. Surprisingly amazing. Here's the winery with upside down boats for roofs:

The very last glass of the very last bottle of my once-massive supply of limoncello. This one is 96 proof, and very potent.

It looked different than the stuff they sell today, Jacquins being the only brand I could find, but it's a sweet cordial which I usually buy for the holidays. The Rock and Rye I remember had the rock candy crystallized onto the inside of the bottle, making it look like cracked ice. I tried to find a pic, but alas, couldn't. I'll admit to a predilection for old-stye hooch. 8) |

Earlier today we sampled our altbier, only been in the bottle a week. Really liking how it's coming out.
Tonight I'm drinking pisco and keeping an eye on an interesting experiment. Trying something different with all the lemon juice left over from limoncello. I'm thinking of it as un-lemonaid as I'm removing the sugar. It looks really cool, not sure if it will be drinkable but worst case I'm sure it will make a great drain cleaner. |

If I knew my mini-me's flight was going to be delayed so many times tonight, I would have been drinking something. It is beginning to feel like a Glenrothes night. And.....in the time it took to write this post, her flight has been delayed yet one more time. Maybe it's not too late to call BayPorter. Grrrrrrr.
