Just thinking that whitewalls would look so cool on my GTV 300. Googled, and discover something called whitewall inserts. Never heard of them before. So, is anyone here using the inserts? Anyone have experience shopping for whitewall scooter tires? Just gotta know!

Those look great! I have WWs on one of the Harleys and would love to have them on the BV. I never even considered that they might be available.
Thanks. |

What's the matter with the scoot I'm riding?
Can't you tell that it's out of style? Should I get a set of white wall tires? Are you gonna cruise the miracle mile? Nowadays you can't be too sentimental... |

VegasGeorge,
These are still on sale. I scooted up a pair, and will probably install them during the cold months. http://www.scooterwest.com/items/?_pageCCS=t#page=/item_details/GTS-Whitewall-Tire-Pair/1861 |

Buy a decent tire and paint it if you must have ww's. Shinko is a step backwards in performance and reliability. You'll not get great reports from users, except for the 150 and below riders.

I agree with Tom. Shinko(es) are sub par to say the least. Have you toughtt about having your rims powder-coated? You "could" have that stripe on the rim.

While they've got style, I disliked the Shinko more than even the Sava. Especially around Colorado's crappy grooved roads.
I'm considering the Schwalbe for my next set, if I can. Shame Michelin doesn't make any whitewalls that would fit. |

To answer the original question: I have seen some inserts and you would be disapionted, at least in the ones that I saw. They are vrey flimsy and would flop around in the wind, The only thing that they are good for is display. Even then you might have to glue them to the tire to keep them flat.

I found some really good quality inserts for my Black Yaris whilevstill in Las Vegas. Very tricky to get seated correctly, but once done right, they were very tough a looked like real whitewalls. But anything less thn perfect placement looked like cheap fake whitewalss. They werevalso very expensive.

Well, for now the subject is foreclosed around here. The Mrs. went out to the garage to study the situation. Her pronouncement: "Your scooter looks better with the black tires." Gotta keep her happy!
Guess I should have checked with her first! ⚠️ Last edited by VegasGeorge on UTC; edited 1 time

Why r u even considering inserts. They will no doubt look 2nd rate and whitewalls are no more expensive and the schwalbes just as good as standard maxis

white wall inserts
I put some on a 69 VW bug and after a few hundered miles the wouldn't lay flat against the tire. Go with the real tire for best looks.
Has anyone had problems with the white side wall turning yellow? |
