Recently my Vespa ET2 has been acting rather strange, its just got out of an MOT and has been taxed so all should be well and good, however the oil light has been flashing near enough constantly for a couple of days... I did what any normal person would do, bought some 2 stroke oil, put it in and went on my way, but the light still flickers. Now i have checked and there is no oil leak...so why in the heck is the light still on?
also when my indicators are switched on the light flickers too, and they seem to flash faster than normal? i was wondering if anyone had encountered this problem before and if anyone could help...im more than happy to buy a new battery, but i would just like a bit of a heads up if thats not all what else could it be? i just dont want a huge surprise if i take it into a garage and get a huge bill. Thanks!

** also whilst riding it today by back light failed to turn on, my front light works perfectly, but my back light doesnt... and the brake light doesnt come on either...not good.

flickering lights and indicators flashing faster than they should usually indicate that you've got a short in the wiring somewhere. that's about the extent of my knowledge on wiring, but I can tell you with confidence that a new battery won't sort that out.

i'll leave it to the wiring experts to advise you on what to do next

You don't say where you are, but the mention of an MOT suggests UK and I gather that there's been quite a lot of rain (I've been in China for a few weeks). Rain getting into the electrics can cause quite a few problems, including flickering lights...

A failing battery can cause problems if it's failing - the internal resistance can allow the voltage on charge to be out of spec etc - but, unless you are also having problems starting the engine, it wouldn't the first thing I would check!

In your situation, I would check all the bulbs and their connections plus the wiring to the level sensor on the oil bottle. A sharp tap on the bottle might also dislodge a stuck sensor if that is what is causing the light to flash...

Check the rear lamps to see if they're blown. If so get your regulator checked out, I reckon your oil light is flashing because you're overcharging.
