Modern Vespa

I just found this, a great reference for original colours. There are a few around but not so many where you can see the actual colours according to name and number.

The name is on the left and a 3-digit number after; the number is a PPG number which should be available from PPG paint stockists. For Dulon versions of the paint PM Rover Eric - he has Dulon codes for most of the colours for $10/code.

I've been debating for years getting my Rally repainted (it has the original paint, badly scraped on one cowl and the floor boards). I'd probably buy this stuff and take it to a paint shop if I decide to go ahead.

Original paint? Rally 200s have 'racing' stripes on the cowls and mudguard, like this. Maybe somebody didn't like them & removed them from your mudguard? Are they still on the cowls?

Huh! Yes, the stripes are still on the cowls. I've owned this bike for 6 years and done a lot of research on Rallys but I never noticed that the mudguard was missing its stripes. The bike was badly dropped/crashed by a previous owner so the paint on the left side is a mess. Maybe they pulled off the mudguard stripes then.

It really is a Rally 200, promise The tail light was swapped out, I still have the original tractor light. And the cowls have the stripes and ELECTRONIC on them.

Just found a couple of useful charts in my collection.

Ginch, I've been reading this thread with great interest. I have a 68 sprint that had to be stripped back to bear metal (another story). The were all metallic blue/silver but in 69 they finally introduced colour with the Veloce model.
I want to paint it Rosso but without a paint sample, I'm having a hard time getting the local paint suppliers to deal with the Max Myer or PPG paint codes.
Any tips dealing with paint suppliers here in Vic ?

There's a heap of distributors in Vic... not sure where you are in Melbs but there should be somewhere not too far away in that list.
From what I've read you may have issues finding a metallic colour from these codes but the plain colours shold be easy enough from a PPG dealer... was it a particular colour you were looking for?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Will be building on another post that detailed the brilliant body restoration that was done. I'm only doing the prep and paint prior to reassembly.
Attached (hopefully) is the vespa paint code for Rosso circa late 60's. That is the paint colour i'm hoping to use. I didn't want it to be the metallic colour as whilst correct, it's not me

I'm using Complete Auto Paints in Springvale as supplier.

That looks a bit like the Dulux code I bought from Rover Eric here on the forum a while back.

Give one of the suppliers in the list (one in Clayton and one in Dandenong) a call and see if they have 847 in PPG.
