I'm sure that this was raised before so I hope to not offend anyone.

I got up early to make a smoked salmon omelet for my queen and while sipping my espresso (ya sounds real metro don't it) I'm flipping through the channels and what's on? Larry Crowne! Some very cool scoots there.

I'm thinking to myself what a chick flick (no offense ladies). The scoots were very cool and I'm sure that my MV group here may have felt the same. Have there been other movies besides Clockwork Orange which comes to mind? Maybe Westside Story?

A Vespa played a small part in American Graffitti but the actor, Paul Lemat did not know how to ride it.

Edit: Roman holliday is the best movie that I know about that features scooters. Quadrophenia is not bad.

bah
Quadrophenia is terrible.

The soundtrack is amazing but the film itself is a noisy wreck.

I have seen some incredible short films, here on Modern Vespa

My favorite movie with a scooter has to be Roman Holiday. Audrey Hepburn and a Vespa, what's not to like?

the recent remake of Brighton Rock had some lovely scooters in it. When I popped the DVD in I had no idea that they moved the time period of the movie forward, it was a pleasant surprise and change from the original.

I seem to remember Daryl Hannah and several others on scooters in Summer Lovers. Yeah I'm sure it's the scooters that I remember from that movie.

I first got interested in scooters after seeing Quadrophenia with my friends nearly 30 years ago. I've seen it at least a dozen times since then. Still one of my favorites. Great scooter movie, and great movie all around.

I wouldn't call this the ultimate scooter movie, and I think it has been mentioned in another thread, but I couldn't find it. It's a movie called "Heartlands". It's about a guy who takes a trip on his 50cc scooter to get his wife back. Scooter people will appreciate the scene where he pulls up to a motorcycle bar. It's on Netflix BTW. Worth a watch.

Quadrophenia
Roman Holiday
Larry Crowne

Are the 3 best known. Liked em all but RH is the best. One could say absolute beginers as well but should have been done much better.

Brighton Rock, Heartlands, Vespa are 3 I definitely want to see. Another Indie here in america is We are the mods. Barely got any screenings about 3 years ago and as far as I know has'nt made it to DVD or netflix. Anybody remember the scooter scene in Repo man?

Roman Holiday.

There were scooters in The Shoes of the Fisherman (my all time favorite flick) but they not really part of the plot. At all.

Quite a few UK riders turned up to shoot the remake of Brighton Rock, but it wasn't universally liked, and if you didn't like Quadrophenia...

Favourite short flick for attitude and good vibes...

This topic is often on MV so there are some past threads with lots of other titles if you do a search...

I have to mention "Spring Breakers". It's not classic, and it's far from your typical spring break movie, but it has several Buddys in it.

There's a cool scooter scene in The Bourne Ultimatum. And the girlfriend owns a scooter shop at the end of Bourne Identity.

But I'm also quite fond of Roman Holiday. I can't think of one modern acress that shows 1/10th the grace, elegance and class of Audrey Hepburn.

Caro Diario (Dear Diary) is a fun Italian movie from 1993. The first 1/3rd of it mostly features the director/lead character riding around Rome, Italy on his Vespa and making funny comments about life and art.

It was on Netflix instant, but I don't think it's available now. You can see some clips on YouTube.

I like the poster for it, too:
