i put money on the GT once all 6K+ and waited 6 weeks after the release date

that reminds me any one remember that dealer that paid the simi trucks out of his own pocket to go pick up his pre sold batch of GT200s from port so he could prep them & get them out ?

Oh I'm not saying I'm going to buy one. I'm saying that they'll be here on 12/1, for sale, and that the first models will be red. I'll lay money down that that's when it'll happen, not on one of my own.

i know we get shorted on colors in the US but im thinking we will get all 3 colors (red,silver,black)

they better all be on the boat & in route if they are going to be on showroom floors in a month

I was told that the US is NOT getting silver. I'm told the one in Torrance is for training their dealers service departments.

man i just dont get why they would leave out silver but keep black

i have nothing against black but we already have black Gt200's two shades for that matter

Josh is a nice guy.

It's funny, I hear totally disparate things about its acceleration - both that it actually just jumps off the line and that it's just as 'sluggish' as the GT (not that the GT is a slouch per se). I'd be interested in knowing what the reality is on the situation.

Are Euro3 emission standards close to CARB?

Has anyone here given a deposit for a GTS yet? If so, which color are you waiting for?

The new Vespa GTS 250 will be unveiled to the public at the IMS show in Long Beach on December 9th. Expect to start seeing them arrive at (and depart from) dealers during December. The base price will $5,799 plus freight and destination charges. Anticipate very short supply of the Vespa GTS 250. Oh, the colors - Dragon Red with black seat, Excalibur Grey with black seat and Black with tan seat.

since i just got done riding one(GTS250) i'll give you some info..the power is good and throtte response nice. the new sculpted seat is comfy.. the front shock has a chrome spring and seems to be of a higher rate than the GT..yea!!
the taillite could be retro fitted but you need both side panels,the rear fender and a tailite..finda pricy for a little visual thing. BTW the GT200 now has an all red tailite, like the US version but it has the circle of lites like the original euro version..the rear rack on the TS can be fitted to the GT as long a you but the cover that goes around the gas filler area alos.. looks nice. and they even have a kit to mount the topcase on the chrome rack..sweet..
as for the US we will be getting the scoots in the beginning of Dec. the will be in 3 colors..but all in short supply so get your deposits in now..as always preferred dealers will get the lion's share. call Brian at the shop and get him some dough to be on the list..
going to theMilan show on tues. and will check out the "vintage red"..ciao for now....

Do you mean Vespa USA in Rancho Dominguez? Torrance is right next to RD, which is why you could get mixed up, unless I don't know something about Vespa USA and Torrance...(I should know, then, since I live in the next city over). I thought Vespa USA moved out to NYC???? Does Josh Kane live in Torrance and did he just get one somehow? Give us the scoop, snoop!

And, hey, Bobby - Do you think I'll have to leave a deposit for a GTS if I want to get it in late January or early February??? Lemme know!

Vespa usa left torrance a while ago.. they all went to NYC.. eric L. is setting up a service shop and training center in soCal. as for the GTS just get your cash in and i'll make sur e you gat one when your ready..
BTW to all on this board..even with the short supply..i will NOT be marking GTSs up..that's bull and i don't believe in it.. i'm not out to get rich on one sale ..i'd rather be fair and sell a zillion scoots!
off to the HUGE swapmeet tomorrow to look for more vintage stuff and then Monday is the Milan show..weather here is killer..i rented a Smart Roadster for the 2 weeks..TOO MUCH FUN!! way faster than a standard Smart and a pop-top at that.. glad it's sunny.. did a lap of Lago Como today...Bellisimo...

A 6 page e mail went to Vespa Dealers on Monday November 7 detailing the GTS launch, but I haven't been able to find it on this forum. If this already been posted, sorry for the repeat. If not, I have a copy of it if anyone wants one.

Here are a few highlights: Dealers will see the GTS at the convention in Denver November 18. Brochures will be mailed to dealers December 1. Media launch is at Long Beach IMS on December 9. Web page will go up the 9th, as well. MSRP=$5799, colors are red/black seat, gray/black seat and black/tan seat. Price list of accessories attached. Service training for mechanics begins in LA on December 12.

Allocation Program

This highly-anticipated model will be in short supply for the next two months. Based upon this we have developed an allocation plan for dealers.

Early Order period: 11-8-05 to 11-17-05

Receive 1 GTS allocation for every 6 Piaggio or Vespa units ordered on or before 11-17 and invoiced from 11-1 to 11-30. These "Early Order" units will begin shipping the 1st week of December. Additional vehicles will not become available until all initial (early order) allocation orders have been fulfilled.

Personal note:
As you can see, a dealer must order and get invoiced for 24 scooters in order to qualify to get 4 GTS models. Wait 'til spring 2006 if you're in no hurry. But if you want/need one ASAP, then hurry down and kiss up to your dealer. If they don't order one for you by 11-17, you're probably looking at March 2006.

... at the IMS in Denver tonight 11/18. They have a US-spec GTS on display.

I ordered a black one but I'm changing it to gray. It's more silver than I thought it would be and makes the Smoke Gray GT200 look dark in comparison. It's definitely bright silver, not so gray, but maybe there's only one word for it in Italian or something, I dunno.

The fuel injection definitely cleans up the engine compartment. Maybe I can actually get to the spark plug. I'll be interested to see what the little front running light looks like, as well. Also the chrome fender cap is more subtle than expected. But most importantly for me is the FI. It will be SO COOL if it compensates for altitude because believe me a GT only goes about 40 MPH when you get over 8000 feet.

He said changing the color pref would be OK because we already paid a deposit, have bought other Vespas from them, owner knows us, blah blah blah. Thank goodness I've been a loyal customer! And of course money talks.

He said sales have been booming and they are currently ordering Piaggio products in groups of 20-25 every other week and so should be getting 4-8 GTS models in the first batch, scheduled to begin arriving in about two or three weeks.
