It was 38º and clear this morning on my ride in. Expected 60º by Thursday.

Last year at this time we had already had 27" of snow.

Weighed myself this morning. I've lost 2.5+ lbs this past week, without doing anything. I'm no longer on Mounjaro (and haven't been for 3 months), so the fact that I lost weight is a great sign.

Just had one snow dump so far in Minnesota. It has melted and 58 degrees.
Every day without snow is great.

Nice has been exceptionally warm. Topping 23°C today. Sun was shining. Heading home tomorrow, where it's been raining constantly since I left.

I was talking to a former co-worker the other day and he said "sitting in front of a computer 8-hours a day is the new 'smoking'". I feel like there is a lot of truth to this. I retired in July this year from a job (software engineer) that kept me behind a desk 8-12 hours a day. Over the last 30 years I gained 45 pounds very slowly. Since I retired, I've dropped 15 pounds (this is cheering me up today). My eating habits are unchanged. The only difference is that I'm not sitting at a desk all day anymore. I do projects/chores at home every morning. My goal has been to do that from when I wake up until I have lunch every day. There's always something to do around the house. For example, today I changed the oil in my motorcycle than raked/blew/bagged leaves for 3 1/2 hours. After lunch I usually read a book for a couple hours, walk the dog, run errands, etc. I'm hopeful that the weight loss will continue. I could stand to lose another 20-30 pounds. I think my former co-worker is right: Sitting in front of a computer 8-hours a day is the new 'smoking'. 😂

Since we're bragging about weight loss I've dropped almost 40 pounds in the last year. This morning I weighed 191 lbs.

The only thing I have done is eat less. Skipping meals and smaller portions.

I haven't changed my exercise routine or what i eat except for cutting out things like ice cream.

My annual physical is in a few weeks and I'm going to talk to my doctor for advice. So far it has been easy but I don't want to gain it all back like a lot of people do after losing weight.

Yes, definitely. Same. Software engineering is all about relentless focus on what's on the screen. It leaves so little time for much else. This was my plan, but a series of stupid injuries has kept me mostly sidelined. I'm hoping to get back to it soon.

I had a semi-active job before retiring in June this year, in the field about half the time climbing ladders and scaffold stairs, and lots of walking, Since being given a pre-diabetes diagnosis (runs in my family) recently, I've been working on making better choices about what and how much I eat, and have dropped 20+ pounds since summer. I know that by adding a moderate amount of regular activity, I can keep dropping the weight until meds are no longer necessary to maintain proper blood glucose and A1C levels, as well as the whole hypertension thing.

Literal food for thought.

I honestly don't know how I got all the maintenance done at the house and kept up with everything non-work related. I guess I just paid for services (landscaping for example) so I didn't have to do a lot of the work. Now that I'm living off savings, I'm happy to keep that money in my pocket and keep active/busy at the same time. I understand that. I was fortunate that my knee surgery was in March so when I retired in July I was pretty mobile already. Now to just stay injury free.

Hang in there and do what you can to help your body recover (physical thearapy, rest, etc.).

I was really cheered up today, as it was warm enough for me to take an hour's ride. Looks like tomorrow will be even better, so I'm cheered up in anticipation.

Went to Wally World this AM to pick up a bag of corn to feed the deer in our back yard in town (not at the farm where we hunt). Scooter handled the load no problem.

Why did you park in the access aisle for handicapped drivers?

Didn't want to occupy a space a cager could use even tho I am qualified.

Understood but it doesn't do much good to a person who parks there and needs the access aisle for a ramp or lift. If you're qualified so be it use the space. If you don't want to take the space then please don't take the access aisle and assume it's okay/no big deal.

Rant if it suits you. Plenty of room for ramp or lift even tho not next to a "van access" space. And any access would be on the other side of the cagers space.

I am completely good with the amount of space for backed in or sideways parkers to have available and I guess you are right that not taking a full space was completely selfish of me. In spite of your criticism I still had a good day.

Makes perfect sense to me. Should I be worried?

I'm now on day 3 after being exposed to COVID.

So far I have no symptoms. I've been taking my temperature regularly, and it has been normal.

I'll take my first home test this afternoon/evening, to be sure, but it looks like I may have dodged a bullet.

Also, Walter and Gemma are enjoying me sleeping on the couch (so that I minimize exposure to my wife, on the off chance I am infected).

Took the test last night. Negative.

Got out and mowed the front lawn today.

We're going to shower and pack tonight, and head up to my MIL's in Northwest Arkansas in the morning.
