The engine it came with, I threw in the garbage, but saved the carb. I've been running a 125 TS engine with 150 top end. I dont plan on changing the engine, it just runs too good.

I'm thinking although the frame appears to be safe so far as you have proven by riding it for so long if I lived in the states I would keep my eye open for another frame that is in good condition. For me its very difficult to find frames here so I've succumed to the fact my vbb will always have a pseries floor. This after all is not a main ride by any means but just a desire to own a piece of Europe. After all you can get everything other than the fram in excellent condition while looking for a replacement frame.

I have an immense amount of respect for your knowledge and engineering ability but you can't possibly be suggesting that someone would choose to weld two Vespas together and cut it like that?! That's just crazy. Can't even begin to think about how you would line that lot up.
The start point you show is where the floor-pan has rusted through along the strut line. Floor pan is not part of the monocoque AFAIA anyway and floor pans are easy enough to replace here. Welding to the tunnel is commensurate with the metal rusting out due to floor strips securing the mat and or water festering under the mat. The welds to the other side are the water getting in around the engine mount which was probably elongated over time due to being insecure. Welded a lot. For sure. That was never in doubt and I'm sure my two Sprints have similar welding. But two frames? Sorry.

Agreed, don't think it's two half bikes welded together. I also think that an actual "weld two bikes together" is unlikely when the level of patching done here would indicate that the two frames would just be patched enough to end up with two heavily welded frames.
That said, the level of patching here does form a contiguous path from one side to the other at least once, maybe more. At that point you'd likely have a better result welding two frames together assuming the two halves were in good shape. This in not to say that all welding is bad. I've seen some absolutely stunning panels patched, but in those cases you could not tell where the patch was made even when it was bare metal. |

ok, so ive been out of town for a few months, but am back to my scoot. ive got the wiring done, all new cables and engine in and running. I did a 12v conversion from [redacted]. only the best Vietnamese parts for my scoot. any way, ive got it running, just not comfortable with the wiring. I have an open spot on the ignition box, and it seems like less wires in the junction. any body out there used this kit before? also my last rear light fixture had nothing to hold bulbs and no place to connect wire. I made work, only by adding to the bodgery. can you guys recommend a decent quality rear light with fixtures and terminals installed? thanks for putting up with this thread.
