Other than changing the brake fluid and brake line, what else might need to be done to this scooter?

Be specific. How did you acquire this scooter? How many miles? When was the last service? Give more information and people will help you.

It has 17 original miles. I mentioned to my wife that it would be neat to get a Vespa and she agreed. I found this scooter on Craigslist. The gentleman that owned it bought it for his wife who fell in love with the idea of owning a Vespa while visiting Rome. It turns out the love flamed out after 17 miles. My wife, unbeknownst to me, bought it as a gift for me for $1600.00. It also came with a Shoei helmet.

It's sat in a climate controlled garage but its never been serviced other than having a new battery installed.

Hi ,Welcome to a site that never ends lol Im told old rubber is old rubber.So put a new belt and tires on .New fuel lines and have all the fluids changed.Break fluid ,engine and hub oil.Be safe n have fun.

Change the hub oil. Check the tires for rot. Give it a good visual "once over". As far as the brake stuff, the lines should be fine. If it makes you feel better change the fluid. I hope your wife loves it.
