Take another look at that carb. It looks like a bog standard Dell 'Orto 20/20. I know that Gene @Scooters Originali and the guys at Scooterwest carry that kit & needle. It is really nothing unusual -- I have one on my current P200E.

I asked Gene if he had a Dell Orto 20/20 rebuild kit and he said he did not but could order one in about 2 weeks if I can't find one elsewhere. I'll try scooter west.

Hi Dugan, I'm in Chicago and have a spair DO 24/24 rebuild kit and extra float and needle. I'm not sure if this will work (expert chime in here). If it or the needle and float will work, it's yours.

Not 100% sure but it should work. Would give Scooterswest a call to verify.

I'm pretty sure the extra stuff in my 24/24 kit was for the 20/20. I still have all those too...

That would be great! I'll be around most of the weekend. I'm in Forest Park, west of the loop on 290, but I can meet wherever. I'd gladly reimburse you for it.

It's running!

This is the first time I've ever troubleshot something in my life.

Thanks, gang.

Still gonna do a full carb clean and rebuild.

EDIT: I shouldn't say never troubleshot anything. Just nothing with an engine.

Congratulations! What did you do differently to get it running again? And when do we get a picture of the bike?

The tube that goes from the float bowl into the carb was clogged.

Round #2

After a generous gift from Mighty_Triceratops of a rebuild kit and carefully following these instruction on a carb rebuild .....

The bike was humming! Nice smooth idle, great throttle response. Went for a 20 mile ride and everything was great.

Later that afternoon, I go to start it up, and it starts up just fine. But after about 10 seconds, the idle went up (idled normal initially) for about 3 seconds then died.

I'm thinking something with the choke is wonky? So back at it again tonight.

I suppose just replacing that and taking it out of the equation isn't the worst thing in the world. It just seems odd it would run great all morning, then this very strange, and specific behavior.

Agreed. Clean the gas tank/filter and make sure nothing is blocking the inlet valve on your nice rebult carb.

That is awesome. At least we correctly diagnosed as a fuel problem!
