One thing I miss on the MP3 that I have on the motorcycles is the ability to use a tankbag. I like having a map right in front of me, carry a small camera (or my cell phone), have a Camelback for hydration, etc.

So, suggestions on something similar? I've found a few map cases that could attach to the handlebars (eg. http://tinyurl.com/lvfts5v). Are there other items I'm missing?

TIA!

Tunnel bag. Most have a clear plastic pocket for maps.

Been a number of threads on them here, including very recent. Search 'em out!

Here's mine: Aprilia Tunnel Bag Installation on Mp3 500

The Aprilia bag is no longer available but Givi has the same cut minus the clear map view.

you could also look at a quarterback arm pouch like they use for calling plays to put a map in.

"Tunnel bag". Now *that* is a description that never occurred to me to search on. Thanks!

I usually wear an Aerostich jacket, they have an identical item that slaps on an arm. That choice is not for me. Believe me, after 35+ years on two wheels (ok, three wheels now for the MP3) I know what works for me.

Tank bag, tunnel bag, cross bar pouch/whatever. Just don't slap it on my arm. I'm too likely to slap myself in the head with it. ;)

Pre-GPS luddites like myself are reduced to using what OAD recommended.
Pinning it down on the bag should work as well.

I have a magnetic tank bag that I bought for my Ninja but that I found works well for my MP3, too. It has a handle that you can hang from the grocery bag hook on the leg shield. It's Bilt brand that I obviously got from Cycle Gear. It has the clear map pouch in front that works decently.

Hmmm, ok, *maybe* on that "tunnel bag" I have yet-to-find. However, how do I put this? No. Way. In. Hell. would I *ever* wear that on my arm. Reminds me of this item sold by Aerostich: http://tinyurl.com/mpbk5nm

On the positive side I do like a large map holder. Some of them can barely hold a cocktail napkin.

And yes, I *do* use a GPS, however that is not a substitute or replacement for maps. Both have their uses.

The same company also has a legal sized one as well.

Now *that's* what I need! I really hate those teeny-tiny map cases that force you to wad up your map. Thanks!

Would a $12.00 purchase be acceptable? Only for the 500 unless someone wants to adapt it to the 250 or 400.

Options are good! What works for one might (or not) work for another. I simply state what *I* prefer; I can be persuaded. I do draw the line: I am not slapping anything on my arm, unless it's a mosquito. ;)

There is a guy over on ADVrider that will "Make" you any type of bag you design. Just give him the measurements and he will make it.
He is located under Vendors and his company name is STORM ... from what I've seen and read, he does really good work and reasonable.
