Hey - I'd also like to point out that your assumption is a sweeping generalization. I'm new to Vespas but not new to Harleys. I can tell you that my Harley buds dig Vespas because, like Harleys, they are artfully built, have personalities, and need some extra attention now and then.

If I made some assumptions or elaborated slightly it was in the pretext of 'setting the scene' and telling a good story.
I have only recently returned to this forum after a spell on the sidelines for 'overthinking' comments by others so I understand precisely where you are coming from.
Personally I am relieved he did not die and the real lesson of this story is - NEVER EVER remove a riders helmet once he has gone down hard unless you can be absolutely sure he has no head or spinal injury!
