I shipped my sister my GoGo Gear cafe mesh jacket. It's a size 24, which is currently unavailable. She'd tried it on over Thanksgiving, so she knew she liked the way the 24 fit better than the 22 i'd gotten her. So we were going to swap. she told me not to bother washing it up for her, she'd just wash it when she got it.

UPS left the package on her porch yesterday. Needless to say it was not on her porch when she got home from work.

So someone out there saw UPS leave a package and thought they'd maybe score something.

The only thing that keeps me from utter heartbreak about this is the thought of some bastard opening up Mystery Surprise Box of Awesome to find...an unwashed fat chick's motorcycle jacket.

And two fabric grocery bags.

Gotta be a close neighbor. She should go door to door and see if anyone saw anything. Then at least everyone knows that something is up in the neighborhood.

Probably the UPS driver - I've had multiple incidents with them, including, e.g., "losing" a COD payment (and then coming back for a second bite with a collection agency for money they'd already received), throwing a shipped bottle of wine onto my back porch over a fence (heavy box & glass - could've hurt someone or done more damage than they did), plus forging my signature for receipt, etc. Thieves, the lot of 'em, FedEx are much preferred.

That sucks. One year at Christmas time, some little bastards in my neighborhood followed the UPS truck around, cleaning the packages off of peoples porches. They were caught by the police the second or third time they did it, but my stuff was never recovered.

That is just remarkably exceptionally low. I'm so sorry man.

I feel your pain...

A long time ago in a different life, I was a road musician. The month after I retired, my car was broken into, and the only thing taken was my box of live performance tapes. Not the hundreds of CDs or stuff you'd think that someone would steal to sell, just the irreplaceable record of my previous career.

The pisser is that you just know when someone finally played them, they said "what the hell is this crap?" and tossed them in the trash.

Yep, bastards the lot of them...

So sorry and glad my neighbors will take my packages and guard them if i'm not home and i do as well. Hopefully karma will get them. Was it insured? Pardon my ignorance but i never use FedEx or UPS myself since it costs an arm and a leg plus a hand to send something from here. Crying or Very sad emoticon

I was quite surprise when this happened to me the first time (i.e. leaving package at the door instead of handing it over personally). After that, I've made sure all packages will be sent to me with "signature delivery"

Thanks YaYaDave and ravenlore; I didn't mean to bring it down, I'm (mostly) over it!

I will say that the most vicious epithet in my vocabulary is "thief".

Cheers!

The cashier at the UPS store defaulted the insurance to $100...less than have the price of the jacket. When i called to report the item lost, I advised the store of that fact.

The next day the store manager called me back and said "it's our store policy to always ask an amount to insure for. It's a he said/she said situation, My employee says he did ask. and it IS our policy, so any claim will be for $100."

It took me an HOUR to realize she was implying that I am a liar and a fraud.

I bet they do that to make the claimant feel demoralized and back down from the claim.

Don't let em.

RAV i'd be all over them but i don't think you'll get anywhere. However do go higher up the chain of command. Show them the cost of the jacket and say "why would i only do $100. Can't hurt .When i went back to visit NY last year my leather ipad cover got damaged in my backpack. I called the place where i got it and also sent a pic. They sent me a new one at the place i was staying and wanted the old one back since they couldn't believe it ripped that way. So they put the return info in FeEx's computer. Got to the store and the guy behind the counter was the village idiot and his supervisor was worse. They wanted to charge me $35 for getting the info out of the computer. I was pissed and after many calls to the place that put the info in they had me send it regular mail and wrote me a check for what it cost. Every time i see a FedEx truck i have flashbacks. Good luck
