Is this when cold in the morning, or within 20 minutes of riding it previously? If the latter it could well be a faulty fuel pump - a free replacement is available for some. What's the manufacture date of the 250?

If it's from cold, it could be quite a few things, things to check quickly:
Battery contacts clean and tight.
Spark plug cap tight on the HT lead and tight on the plug.
Fuse contacts all clean.

Things that take a little longer:
Air filter clean.
Ignition switch operation not sloppy.
Kill switch contacts clean (inside and out).
