Enclosed is a side-by-side comparison between the Vespa GTS exhaust gasket and the Yamaha Equivalent exhaust gasket. The advantages of the Yamaha gasket is it's price is quite abit less than the Vespa's gasket ($12 vs $20).

Enjoy! Given the differences, I'll likely stick with OEM and keep the Yamaha gasket if I'm in a pinch.

I had researched that before and found that there was very little difference. I installed the Yamaha part with no ill effects that I know of. I also have a spare to carry with me. Thanks for the research keithm!

I love, love, love parts cross-reference threads... SO useful when, a few years down the road, some Vespa owner in Nowheresville is searching teh Interwebs for an exhaust gasket solution because they have no local dealer, and they'll (hopefully) find this thread. Props!

That's the old style Vespa gasket as well, the new ones are much much better, a stainless mesh coated in graphite.

Did the Yamaha gasket fit with no modification? I tried using one and had to remove a considerable amount of material from the inside diameter of the Yamaha gasket making it even thinner. I ended up going back to the OEM which fit like a glove.

To me, the are similar, but not equivalent.

Not sure why, but scooterwest does not seem to carry the New style (with the stainless steel mesh on end). I would have liked to include the new style within the comparison study.

Did you sand the end of the downpipe? I sanded and steel wooled the end of the downpipe and it slid right on with no problem. Mine is a GT200 though and I don't know if it is different than your GTV250.
