Modern Vespa

The other day I noticed my left mud flap is missing. The right side is in place, but has one missing screw. I know this topic has been addressed before, but my question is about the effect the mud flaps have. Does anyone ride without the mud flaps, and if so, how does it affect your ride? Do you get splashed more on wet roads?

I would just replace it, but at $37 a side I'm considering just leaving them off.

Several people, myself included, have had mysterious damage show up on the right mud flap. I've personally never noticed any difference with it partially missing. I think I've got a couple of screws missing from one of mine, too, but haven't bothered to do anything about it. No clue how long it's been that way, either...
