What would be a fair cost to have them installed by a dealer? Thinking this is my next purchase!

Thanks,
Mike in Ashland, VA

I assume you are talking about the Vespa OEM Crash Bars.
They are not difficult to install yourself.

If you are buying them from the Dealer, I would ask...
If I buy these, will you put them on for me?

I recently put on the Vespa rear crash bars and it took about 10 minutes to do it. I suspect if you buy them from Scoot Richmond they might even do it for free. Call Chelsea there - she is very responsive.

Hard to say what a "fair" price would be... But most likely, your dealer will have their own standard charge for accessory installation, or just go by their regular hourly labor rate.

I would also vote to consider installing them yourself. I'm not very mechanically inclined, and I was able to install them myself. I did need a little help in shaving off the edge of a connecting piece that didn't fit right, but other than that, it was easy. Just pick a few favorite curse words and you'll be fine.

(Not that difficult, you should do yourself)

Alas, I'm not the "do it yourself" guy! Wish I was, but at this stage in life it ain't gonna happen.

When I bought my scooter, my dealer installed all of my options for no extra charge (top box, crash bars, alarm). Many dealers will throw in installation of items like crash bars if you ask when before you buy the accessories.

However, installing OEM crash bars on a GTV is quite a simple install. If your dealer wants to charge more than you think it's worth, it will be no trouble to install them yourself.

do I need to buy OEM bars from a dealer?
I can't seem to find an online source and my local dealer's website directs me to the Piaggio/Vespa catalogue with no prices listed.
Any idea of current pricing?

On the idea of "support your local Modern Vespa supporter/advertiser", did you check any of the places that have ads on the top and bottom of theses pages?

YaYa yes I did. I also posted on the cash to burn thread just now.
seems to be a lot of chatter about crash bars recently and I, too, had little windfall to invest before I take a fairly long solo ride this summer.

I get confused a lot; maybe I have this wrong. See if any of this is what you are thinking about.

There is at least one discussion comparing the various manufacturers bars on MV somewhere.
