I've looked at the threads on canister removal; however I have one question for those who have done this on a 400: How do you remount the electrical receptacle? The hole for the electrical plug that's under the cover looks too big to secure the plug. Any suggestions or photos of what worked for you?

This assumes that after removal you leave the cover off and use the space for storage (looks like it would hold my tire plugger kit and small pump).

Hmmmm: "Not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally; unbelievable". I had been thinking of that line from The Princess Bride.

Still, I would like to see how folks have handled relocating that electrical plug...

Nope, I don't know
But, I am also in Madison. Anyhoo, I just removed my EVAP, um, stuff last weekend. I didn't notice any sort of electrical connection to any of the parts I yanked. You got a picture you could post?

The part I'm wondering about is the accessory electrical plug that is located in the cover. After removing the canister I want to leave the cover off; my question is what do folks do with that plug. Leave it in the cover? Relocate it?

BTW, I have seen a couple other MP3s around town (I'm on the near east side).

EDIT: After revisiting a few other posts on canister removal I think I have an answer on handling my accessory plug.

That's where I was heading:

"Vizzini: HE DIDN'T FALL? INCONCEIVABLE.
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Glad you have a solution.

Cheers!

There's a cigarette lighter socket there. I had to do a bit of fabricating to protect it and seal it off from the storage area.

Yup, that's the canister area and accessory socket. There's another earlier thread that has a photo by Fuzzy. He did a very clean modification of the lid to hold the socket.

I'm armed with a Dremel and cut-off wheel; this could get ugly....

That's ok... my head is in the same state. It's just that The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favs; it's even on my iPhone.

Cheers!
