Any real difference or is it just cosmetic, like the seats?

Cosmetic - or at least mostly trim stuff. The seat, rectangular headlight, shelf instead of glove box, and no immobilizer. The basic body is the same and the engine/transmission is the same

The LX has has an immobilizer system tied to a chip in the ignition key (pretty sure if the LXV also has this as well), the LXS does not.

Other that those differences and the ones already mentioned, the LX and LXS are functionally identical (engine, suspension, etc) by model year.

My s is a 2012 and it is as 2 stroke.
It can also be a difference depending on USA or europe sales.

We have an LX and a GTS. I find the lockable glove box very useful for things that you may want to access while sitting on the scooter, but still want locked up (and dry) when you stop, such as glasses, gloves, garage door opener. In my opinion, that tray on the s is about as useful as an ashtray. I also found the instruments to be more difficult to read. In the end, my wife wanted the styling of the s, but she agreed that the practical inclusions on the LX made it a much better scooter.

Oh, when we purchased new in 2009, the 150 LX had an immobiliser and the S did not, not sure if that is still the case.

Well, I guess that it is, relatively speaking... the 4 valve head adds ~ one extra Hp, the claim is its similar output to the 2 stroke 50cc engines.

I ultimately did the 150cc leader engine swap and the 50cc 4v engine is currently quite slow on my garage floor sans body

As far as immobilizer the LX 50 does not have one like its 150cc brother.
