Sorry to read about this but grateful you're doing the reporting instead of a second hand reporting of you being seriously injured. Also glad you had a witness so he couldn't make up a story about it being your fault he hit you in the rear.

I know you don't have to worry about this but I'm curious if you have "citizen's arrest" over there or if you have to be an officer to arrest someone. Also would "perverting the course of Justice" be one of the laws that meet the criteria for citizens arrest.

heinlein, Kittysaz is a police detective so she able to do her own arresting.

Close call Kitty! Lucky he wasn't going faster. While Watson is in the shop, get yourself checked out too. Sometimes the adrenaline you produce can hide injuries and mask pain.

some people just don't get that "THINK BIKE" mentality. it may be easing back whilst following a biker round a roundabout in the wet, allowing extra distance between you and the biker, or simply paying extra attention at give way signs.

The whole "THINK BIKE" concept to me is about seeing a bike, and treating it in the same way as maybe kids at the roadside, an ice cream van, a school crossing etc, in other words F***ING WAKE UP

Glad you're ok, that could have been nasty if he'd have pushed you into live traffic. Is that your insurers wanting to check your scooter and is that the norm?

Yes, as it's been rear ended they want to ensure that there is no damage underneath or internally
I am happy with this
As I said, the crash bars appear to have done their work - there's no obvious damage to the rear bodywork and the bars
It was luckily a relatively low speed impact

Now I know you're OK, interested to hear how that inspection goes and how the crash bars seem to have worked. Stan has the same bars as you and they prevented much damage when his orange GTS went over recently, so they seem to 'do what they say on the tin'. My single bars are much weedier in comparison.

I was very upset but kept my calm until he started moaning - he was demanding to leave the scene as he had to attend his British naturalization meeting. So I walked to his car and removed his keys from the ignition, so he coudn't leave
I also told the officer who attended this.

The officer who attended stated that as it was a damage only accident it should be a case of exchanging names and addresses to comply with the Road traffic ActI dug my heels in - I stated that not only had he admitted not looking, he pushed me into (slowly moving) oncoming traffic
Therefore I stated that as it was a damage only accident and I was making allegations of careless driving, it had to be recorded by an officer

I haven't been in uniform for 18 years but I do remember my traffic law

I was astounded when the lady who witnessed arrived when the officer was there - she had driven in heavy traffic back around the block to come and tell me she's seen what happened
My heart was warmed by her gesture - a glint of decent human kindness - lovely.

Well I had a tear in my eye as Watson was wheeled up onto a van this morning to be taken for his check up - I hope, and am sure - he will be ok

I had tears in both eyes as I set off on the Hodna PS125 they lent me to go to work. I can't believe how small the grips are!!!

Or how much ugly plastic I was sitting on!!!

I dried my eyes of course before riding off as to ride with misty eyes would, of course, be very dangerous

I'll never understand that line "I didn't even see you" - I was just a victim of that ten days ago. I was riding my BMW F800ST, wearing a bright Hi-Viz jacket, white helmet. In the middle of a bright, sunny day, a woman turned left just in front of me, too close for me to stop. I slowed down a little, but not enough, and I crashed into the front of her car, and went flying over the hood (Bonnet for the UK-ians). All was well with me, except for a broken thumbnail and two minor scratched knees. The bike, though, was destroyed! Pictures here .

So, I'm back in the market for a scooter again. I'm thinking a BV-350. I had a GTS-300, but I wanted to go FASTER, hence the BMW.
