Hello there,
I have a 2002 ET4 and recently, a fuse popped on it. After replacing the fuse, everything seemed fine and it managed to get me fifty miles to London. Once I arrived, my dad (bit of a mechanic) decided to give the Vespa some love and so bought it a brand new air filter to the tune of £3.50.
Everything appeared to go smoothly, and the installation was painless and over in a matter of seconds. However, when I hopped on to test out the new filter, all was not as smooth as it seemed - it suddenly seemed reluctant to pull off unless I slowly pulled the throttle. If I open her up all the way, she eventually sputters up but it feels as if she is gasping for air.
Got back home, put the old filter back in just to see, but still the same issue ensues.
So, put a new spark plug on it, new spark plug cap, cleaned the carb, changed the fuel lines and filters, but still no ball.
I've tried adjusting the fuel/air mixture on the carb as best I can, and although it has improved ever so slightly, it still doesn't feel right - I'm told that if I twist the throttle hard from idle, it shouldn't hesitate at all, but yet despite all the work she's had done to her, the engine simply isn't as smooth as it should be
Any more suggestions? Plain language would be appreciated as I'm not the best at this sort of thing, unfortunately...
