I'm planning on getting one for my Portofino Green GTV and not sure which color to get. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? I'm leaning to gold or red but not sure.

Thanks,
Mike in Ashland

Your choice!!
Your dipstick color is a personal preference.

Love my Jettin Dip Sticks, but they are much harder to read than the stock plastic one.

I findthem equally poor for reading. But really like the bling. I use oopsclunkthud's Shapeways funnel/dipstick for oil level checks.

I got chrome ones for my espresso GTV. And, yeah, save the old dipsticks for when you actually need a reading....

Jettin chrome dipstick
I got a chrome one years ago. It looked nice but got so hot I couldn't check the oil level for a long time after riding. I have a box for Vespa things that it lives in now.

The dipstick goes in clockwise and comes out the other way. I need to screw for a long time thouhg. It is kind of exhausting. C'on screwing 10 times just to check if you have enough lube is counterproductive. What were they thinking at Piaggio? Patrick's funnel is in my wish list too.

We're still talking about scooters, right?

Chrome would be the best look for a green Vespa IMHO.. keeps inline with all the other factory chrome bits.. I have black on my scooter but like chrome much more. as far as heat and other issues seems both jettin and stock have the same problems with reading oil level.. gets better the older the oil gets tho.

Thanks for the comments, most of em anyway. LOL! Decided to go chrome. Most likely won't have anything but chrome on it anyway.
