Modern Vespa

So here she is! I've fixed the sticky choke cable, replaced and lubed clutch cable, changed gear oil, replaced various rubber bits, cleaned carb, and I'm in the process of getting the seat re-covered. Peeled off stickers and gave her a once-over. Would like to get some touch-up paint for a few small spots, you'll see in the pics. Oh, I paid $2,400 and drove to Portland to check it out and pick it up.

So what do y'all think?

I know huh? I don't get it. 80 of those miles are from me! Wherever it sat the seat took the brunt of it. The seat latch has some corrosion on the inside, which will clean right up with some fine sand paper and oil. The paint is good though, so that's the biggest thing...

Looks like a sunbelt bike with the baked seat & no rust. A pristine canvas, let the mods begin

So the first three things are, well, besides the seat, which is at the upholsters as we speak.

Flyscreen: I'm thinking a clear flyscreen, but one of those like I had on the Bajaj would work just fine.

Rack: (hehehe, he said rack.) I'm kinda liking the non-foldable rack that wraps around to the helmet hook, verses the folding or tire holder rack. I've had the tire-holder kind before and like the tire under the cowl.

New pipe: Sito, Sip Road, or ???? Don't mind something a little louder, but want reliability and performance. After I ride it for a while so I know what I'm doing when I start messing with it.

So this is the new seat. I had a local place cover it, and Shoreline Embroidery stitched the Vespa logo. I'm leaving the strap off for now cause it's right where I sit.

Hahaha - Yea, I guess it does match! The floor was painted when we bought the place 7 years ago. One of these days (years) I'll clean it up and epoxy...

Thanks Len. I went through some issues to get the seat covered. The upholsterer's first try looked really bad - the seams were extremely crooked. I almost didn't let her have a 2nd chance to fix it (redo it), but she didn't want me to be unhappy with her work. Too late, cause I already was, but I get it, so I let her make another one and hoped for the best.

She did a good job this time, not great, but way better than the first try....
