If you are a Cannonball Alumni a new thread has been started to finalize the routes and dates.

http://www.scootercannonball.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2482

This "announcement" is just for the Cannonball Alumni. I am cross posting here because activity on the Scooter Cannonball forum waxes and wanes to such an extent that it is easy to miss key discussions.

If you are not a Cannonball Alumni do not follow the link above, it will just leave you disappointed.

Once the dates and the generic routes has been selected, the discussion will move back to the public forums.

I hope you are planning on doing more in 2014 then just riding the first leg. On the other hand we will take what we can get.

Nope I am just a poser.

Really am wanting to give it a go though. Dates and route will play a big part.

Well, I'm seriously considering riding my GTS 250 stock except for sliders instead of rollers as sort of my post injury challenge. Before I can decide though I need more information on dates/times/routes since I have to co-ordinate with my partner for time away.

Having ridden my son's SC 250 back from California in March I know it would be up to the task but I find it too short in the floorboards for multiple long days. 1726 miles in 4 days taught me that. 8) Given that you are taller than I am with longer legs I would recommend a taller windshield than the Puig and some sort of highway peg or other way to stretch your legs. The GTS is much more comfortable even if it has smaller wheels.

it has the Aprilia windshield and the top is just below my neck line. Might add a laminar lip . i am working on some floorboard highway pegs for the BV 350 crowd and I think they just might work on the SC.
I will be using an Airhawk so that helps a bit for leg length too.

You may want that laminar lip since that's about where the Puig hits on me on our 2008 SC. I didn't have my airhawk since it lives in Breckenridge with our BV (don't need it on the GTS or the Scarabeo) and I flew out to pick the SC up from Houston.

The SC did very well on the trip and was more comfortable than I expected but still not as much as the GTS or even better for long distance touring the Scarabeo 500 but that one isn't cannonball eligible.

Maybe I'll see you again next year.

Time to start figuring out handicap. It could be the year of the 150 to 200cc bikes.

I have nothing to realistically contribute to that post, because I think both routes have their merits and I doubt I"ll be in a place to do either, as much as that pains me.

You know O.Z. that's just cruel dropping hints to folks who can't see the proposed routes but are at least seriously considering 2014 cannonball.

That's not our fault.

Without more info I don't know if I can do it either, very dependent on when and where since I'd have to coordinate clients and partner to get away for that length of time.

True but it doesn't say that there are 2 routes under discussion. Dropping hints is what is cruel.

Just looked and if I am divorced in the next few months it will be because my husband chose that instead of killing me when I came home with a new scoot in September . . . depends on which route is chosen.

Just bring up that brand new pickup he showed up in one day. Or all those guns he randomly brings home.

On second thought, maybe don't bring up the guns...
