Modern Vespa

My Farmall BN looked that pretty probably 25 years ago after I rebuilt it! Been worked too much mowing field since then, now looks almost as rough as the guy driving it!
Interesting air filter thing with the glass bottle with oil in it!

I think the fellow driving this one in my photograph hasn't been doing too much mowing with it, lately - it looked clean enough to serve tea on (with the added benefit that the hot engine would probably keep the tea in the tea cups warmer, longer!).

I live just outside of a small rural town with a lot of farming, and most of my neighbors are driving bright green Deere's or orange Kubota's --- you don't see too many Farmall's out and around, more's the pity

Thank you, frcx94. I love Oregon too...though with the latest spate of never-ending smoke pollution from never-ending wildfires, it's been kinda grim in several parts of the state.

A shot of the August full moon this evening...



It has several nicknames, mostly based on Native American harvest/fishing ceremonies, but appropriately for here: the Red Moon. Still smoke in the area here, not from local forest fires, but from fires in the northwestern US and Canada. The smoke isn't bad here, but it does make for some pretty sunsets and tonight's full moon.

You all need to get the loggers out there thinning out those forests and the USNFS to start doing controlled burn offs again like they use too.
Have to get rid of all the excess fuel on the ground.

Once upon a time, years ago, this bus was going to Atlantic City.
It never got there.

It lives in a field in rural southern Oregon now.

Our European members will remember this name: Eyjafjallajökull, shortened, I've heard to E15.

Oh yeh, I got stranded in Frankfurt because of that bloody thing.

This motorcycle mailbox is on a rural lane near where I live, just outside of Talent, Oregon.

So far, I haven't found any scooter or Vespa mailboxes...but I'm still looking.

Here's a picture from a few years back. It was taken near Lowville New York. It's even got a GTV300 and a "scooter girl" in it! And those windmills are a lot bigger than they look in that picture!

Well had to Google it, there are 195 of them up there. Towers are 260 feet tall each blade measures 130 feet and the total maximum output of the "farm" is 321 MW.

Cool shot, kshansen - the windmills are very impressive but so are the scooter and the scooterista!

Riding by the Shrine of Democracy (Mt. Rushmore) yesterday...

Looking through some old photos. Found this one of an explosive bolt (nut). Something that's not too common. This particular nut is one of eight that held down the space shuttle's solid rocket boosters. It's also similar to the exploding fasteners used to separate rocket stages. You can see just how fine the threads are and where the nut has been scored to separate from the bolt. Also, the explosive charge is inserted into the top of the nut. Kinda of like a blasting cap, but more sophisticated. It's called a exploding-bridge-wire detonator or EBD. It can be computer controlled to detonate within milliseconds. Was invented to be the detonation device on a nuclear weapon which has several of these that must explode at the same exact instance. Oh yeah, there's a protective cover that bolts over this to prevent damage.... Damn, I can't seem to get away from this stuff.
