In southern Oregon we have been getting massive and unhealthy smoke pollution, from the forest fires all around Oregon - as well as numerous one from California, which neighbors us. This morning, I went up to the summit of Mt. Ashland - which is on the Oregon side of the border - and took this photograph looking south toward Mt. Shasta, the towering volcanic mountain to the south. You can see Mt. Shasta in the center of the photograph, it appears to be rising up from a sea of clouds and fog - but that 'fog' is actually an immense bank of smoke from numerous California wildfires, stretching out literally as far as my camera lens can see (and even farther).
It makes for a rather beautiful image - but when you are in the middle of the smoke, it is rather horrendous - and definitely unhealthy, for breathing.
