Hope you're not too disappointed, its a video of me wiggling my crank on a p200. Blew a hole in the piston, and starting the re-build. After I split the cases, I noticed that the crank moves around alot. Doesnt seem right, but I dont have enough experience to know one-way or the other. So, I'd like to know from more experienced folks if thats way wrong, and if so, whats the likely fault. My "dont know what the hell I'm talking about guess" is that the clutch side bearing is bad, followed by 'something on the clutch side is not coupled correctly and the crank drew out as I pulled the flywheel side casing off', and finally, the 'well, thats alot of weight sitting on both ends of a single crank taper on a single bearing, maybe thats how much you can move it when you yank it up and down".

I'm also fairly inexperienced with Youtube, so if the link doesnt work, let me know. Thanks!

When you have the other end of the crank supported with the fly side bearing, the movement you see there is not an issue.

Reviving a dead thread here.

That's reassuring to know -- I've got the same situation here, and I'm about to close the cases. A friend looked at it and he said my goodness, that's a bad bearing. I said, hmmm, but it's SKF and I gingerly installed it only last night. Test-closing the cases, meanwhile, results in very little play at all on either the flywheel or clutch sides.

if not too loose than it is fine
they do "tighten" up as they get up to temp

but if too loose
yes you need to change it out
better now than later as the stator gets jammed up or crank gets out of true

make a vid and post it

Ha ha! Glad to see you're FINALLY putting it together!

that is normal
when you have the 2 cases all together it shall be tight
when one side of the crank in not supported "it" looks looser than it really it

after it is all built up and together see if you can wiggle the fly side taper
shouldn't move too much

Thanks, Spiderwebb. I've been through this delightful process five or six times already, and the rotational play within the bearing is the largest I've seen. With previous installations the side to side play has been quite tight, and in others, like this one, not so much.

Anyway I test-fitted the cases together and there's barely any play at all.

One of my local scooter buddies saw this installation, by the way, and said it was a bad bearing and I should replace it tout de suite. I posted this video here to get a second opinion.

Perhaps you should replace it now... I'm sure it won't make any difference but will make you feel better.
On the other hand there are different 'grades' of bearings... with tighter and looser tolerances. Whether they are available in that size, or even suitable for the application I don't know. But maybe worth checking out.
