hi all! this is my first post so be gentle!

I have a 2003 gt200 which hasnt run for 2 years with 7000kms on the clock.

So to get it running i have;

replaced the fuel lines and carb lines (all split)
replaced the tank fuel tap
replaced the fuel filter
ditched old fuel and replaced with strong octane / redex mix just in case
disasembled, cleaned and reassembled the carb
replaced spark plug
drained engine oil and replaced filters with fully synthetic
replaced the starter relay
fitted a new (fully charged) battery
replaced the main fuse to the battery
pumped tyres and gave it a damn good clean.

so now i can start it easily first time if i lift the cover off the starter relay and get prodding with my fingers.....but the bike wont start off the starter button as expected!

Anyone got any ideas as to why this is? im at a loss as ive replaced and rebuilt everything that i thoughgt could have corroded or caused the bike to not perform to its best.....but not beiong able to start it from its button is an MOT failure and thats not good!

i have experimentred with the starter switch being both on and off (cant tell which as the white paint has worn off), but niether position works!

any help wpuld be appreciated! cheers

Ade

Maybe you need a new starter switch?

The best solution is probably to disassemble and clean the contacts in the starter button or to replace it. I have had trouble with mine from time to time. Here is a thread showing an alternate solution. I hope that you get it resolved. The GT200 is an awesome scooter. And welcome to the forum!
