i've just outdone myself on the culinary front
started with two delicious pork chops from one of the stalls in Broadway market. trimmed and sauteed the fat/skin to create crackling, seared the chops in the resulting fat, fried some onion rings in the same fat, slung the lot into a baking dish along with some sliced apple and rosemary sprigs plus a generous grind of sea salt .... into the oven it all went to get tender and acquainted. steamed some fresh green beans, then sizzled them up in the same pan that the crackling and onions were in (plus a bit of added olive oil) and some crushed garlic served with smashed baby new potatoes with melted butter and chopped chives from the garden. birreh is now fighting off a food coma. victory is mine! |

Man Cave Bliss
Nice shot Genie 8) Spent most of the day getting mucky in the man cave - working on the GTR engine strip and frame. Carnaby Street run next summer seems a good goal for the 'reveal', but lots to do before then.
For all the plane fans - pretty sure I saw a B17 Flying Fortress fly over, some way away, it was lumbering along slow n low but that big whale dorsal fin is a give away. If it was, it must have been Sally B, though the web site doesn't list her as flying today http://www.sallyb.org.uk/ Just seen the new Dominos pizza ad with the delivery boy on an LX... |

@ pepy- wow!
I've just about managed to get through the last four weeks at the start of an unbelievably busy university term and am coming up for some much needed air. Today I went out with LAM (advanced motorcylist) training in Kent. I am pretty embarassed as I joined up in September 2012 with the best intentions, except that life took over and I ended up only doing two observed rides. So today, I seemed to draw the short straw and ended up being taken out with a Senior Observer and a trainee observer, which felt somewhat intimidating, seeing as I haven't been on a scooter for at least three weeks, more like a month plus on the open road Let's just say I felf incredibly rusty. And indeed I was. Out around the twisty roads in North Kent, I rode like an absolute knob for the first twenty minutes. When we pulled over for the first debrief, that was pretty much the feedback I was given too. Oh dear. Anyway, I got given a bit of advice and set off for another ride, this time a bit longer. For some reason I found some mojo again and surprise from both of the observers which was a bit of a relief. Even more surprising is that my score went up which left me somewhat open mouthed. Phew. Just another couple of percent to get to 80 and another 7 to start thinking about doing the test. Despite being ultra anxious this morning, I am now looking forward to doing some practice and more observed rides. So what was the advice? "You're not looking up or far enough ahead." No of course I wasn't, comes from too much commuting on a pushbike perhaps... I'd highly recommend joining an IAM group to any of the donks who are thinking about it! |

Beautiful day for a ride! 24 C, sun shining, no wind, and best of all, virtually no tourist traffic on the roads. Made the circuit of the island and blew some of the carbon out of the PX while getting some chores done.

Just heard from Stan - he has swapped his Power Pures for City Grips - wasn't happy with the PP's performance in the rain As some of you will know I hmm'd and haaaa'd for ages a few weeks back when it came time to change out my front tyre - as I couldn't get any opinions on the PPs that didn't come from California (i.e. dry road reviews!) i opted for the City Grips .... now feeling smug and contented that I did. |

Just finished making a batch of kreplach (meat stuffed dumplings... sort of like what you get in a bowl of wonton soup). As I was placing them out to cool, I accidentally bumped the tray and two fell to the floor.
Who knew that dogs also have a 'five second rule'? |
