Who knew that dogs also have a 'five second rule'?
You mean they beat you to it?

Wasn't even close. I'm not entirely sure they even hit the floor.

Heavy Showers forecast for this Saturday so the 3rd Ironbutt is postponed until next April or May.
If I'm honest I'm not that well prepared for it after a string of 12 hour days so doing it/them next year feels like the right thing to do.

Hmmm...maybe that could turn into a small Skok group next year? Those with iron heads, iron butts and daft enough to say Yes...

Me? Not sayin...

Long range forecast - I have another '0' (or should that be 'uh-ohh'?!) birthday in 2017 and I'm going to do a load of activities that year with my age in, so a 5000km trip is on the cards (plus a 5000ft skydive, and so on). Company welcome 8)

Hold the Date
brown_beret7 wrote:
Here's the best of both then...

We could have a coffee meet for some old and new faces at Hendon Park Cafe for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning (cafe is closed on a Saturday as its run by the Jewish community and closed on 'shabbat') and then those that want to go on afterwards to visit Hendon RAF Museum, 2 miles away. Cafe has indoor/outdoor seating and it looks like we could pull into the park and have the bikes off the road on some hard standing by the cafe too. http://www.visitjewishlondon.com/hendon-park-cafe

I MUST go back to my childhood and see this! http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london/whats-going-on/events/airfix-making-history/

Just need a Sunday date then...I'll have a look in October (my GTS needs to be all fixed too)
Sunday 20th October from 10.00am for this coffee, cake and scoot meet in North London then.
I'll put an entry in the Event section soon like usual so people can sign up, but in the meantime, hold the date if you're up for it 8)

plan
I had a provisional route of Maidstone, Swindon, Cardiff - return to the UK over the bridge then Brimingham,Glasgow ( food) then the quickest route back to Kent using the M6 or that but in reverse.

Part 2 was Berlin which is a 1150 mile round trip from Calais but it's pretty dull route wise.

Geneva is a possibility.

Be nice to do it in a crowd.

clapping anticipated
Best of luck with the proposed Ironbutt Bill, but i reckon a 1000 mile trek involving the M4, M5, M6, M74, M1, M25 & M20, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Manchester, 3 or 4 rush hours etc etc is going to push your filtering skills to the limit in order to come in under 24 hours (according to Google maps, thats a 17 hour journey, so with a fair wind and following sea..)

However, i have been known to eat hats

El Muncho
I've done it twice, I can do it again.

Leaving at around 4am will mean we'll miss most of the "rush hour" and it will happen at the weekend so most people won't be out of bed by the time we get rocking.

I do enjoy the long and lonely stuff but getting 6 or more of us together to do this could be a whole bunch of fun and drama.

I think it has legs. How about we call it the Arse Biscuits Ride ?

So our powder coater has a hissy fit a couple of weeks ago and walks out never to be seen again.

Our trainee Jack was swiftly promoted to Chief Powercoater and his work is better than the guy who left.

He's so good I gave him Genie's transmission case to coat and it now looks like polished bakerlite.

Brown Beret's wheels arrived today so it looks like they'll be going the same way.

I think that a group butt has a lot going for for it.

Just an idea but if we're going to start the ride together how would you all feel if we all stayed at a hotel next to a motorway yards away from a petrol station ?

It's a good job I didn't plan a ride yesterday as I had to work a 6th day in a row even after 5 x 12 hours days.

Nice.

Bill, I might be up for some powder coating (might make the rear wheel easier to clean). Feel free to hit me up with details...

I have had a lovely weekend in Wales with LAM, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Elan Valley and not getting rained on. Simon, the local cider was Robinson's Flagon Cider, which Howard and I both liked very much; Doug, I met the Observer you went out with last Pot Luck (Paul?) and he spoke highly of you.

This morning, back in the rat race, where a BMWanker decided to nudge my topbox - twice - because I didn't get going the instant the traffic started to move. Hellooooo, London.

shy knee
i had an 'off' this weekend - I fell off my trainers while we were running on Sunday about 3.5 miles into an 8 mile run, down I went like a sack of spuds. I managed to complete the run but my knee sustained an ugly bruise/scrape and is now very stiff and painful. i see ice in my future.

also: the transmission cover is such a shiny thing of beauty that it's far too nice to go onto a nasty dirty scooter - I'm just going to hang it on the wall and appreciate it as art sorry for the rubbish photo - doesn't do it justice. the surface is glassy smooth and gorgeous.
