I congratulated my new MIL for nurturing one of the most 'difficult and different' (originally MIL's words) women imaginable, and I have to say I'm so very pleased finally to be married to her. Excellent pub lunch followed - we're now back home in our sweats looking at the beer supply for the rest of the afternoon and evening and realising we'll have to weave up the road to get some more. If anyone should take the blame for today's event it should be Al (Aviator47) who organised the 2010 Bella Italia Rally, and the Hornet. Al - you owe me a pint - I owe the Hornet a gallon or two. |

For Jimc and Mrs Tinkle my best wishes. Mrs Tor2ga and I have a 42 year relationship based on PTW (she got my motorcycle from me in1972). We found that to be a solid basis for a marriage. There was a short period when she was 2 cycle and I was 4 cycle, but it passed and all is cool now. There are few 2cycles now so you will be fine.

When Treppenwitz visited these shores he brought several boxes of dates, one of which ended up in my possession. I remembered the existence of the box-o-dates this week, so today this red lentil stew and this polenta and ricotta cake happened. A pleasant occupation for a filthy day on which I have not actually left the flat.

we left the flat today to go and visit my aunt for a delicious lunch in her soon-to-be sold house. My uncle died last year and with all their children grown and with their own families, she's decided she no longer needs four bedrooms and a half-acre of garden with outbuildings. it's in leafy surrey and is on the market for a rather large sum

Bucket of love for Birreh
My brother posted this on fb and I thought you might like it. They are from someone he knows and he is wanting to take the whole lot. His wife would kill him.
Oh and I might need a room mate for Amerivespa. Got the ax on the cannonball from my boss and my boss's boss. Won't let me take that much time off in June as it is our busiest time at the end of the school year and I am the data lead. Glad I brought it up with them because I was going to look at a scarabeo this weekend that might have been perfect. But they were ok with a few days for Amerivespa. Just got to get my wife to decide if she wants to go or not. Will be in touch with a pm. |

Just back from scooting in and around Yosemite where we were blissfully out of internet and cell-phone range.

We were actually very grateful Yosemite Park was 'closed'. The roads were open though, and there were probably as many motorcycles as cars using them. Very sparse traffic, but glorious views. Until we met fresh snow up on the Tioga Pass that is, and very sensibly turned round - as we'd have had to get back though it later on to return to our lodge.

Sorry America was closed. We suck. But glad you were able to get through anyway. Were you blowing through your hands for warmth in the first pic or laying down some harmonica blues?

Trying to warm hands. We reckoned it'd be cold - but not quite *that* cold. So no muffs fitted. Bodies were warm enough (full winter clothing) but hands f-f-froze, despite heated grips and winter gloves. It'd have been OK one way, but as we'd have to return later when it would be even colder - no way José.
Not that I'd ever really wish it again on those involved - but scooting 'closed' National Parks is bloody great. We did our bit to help the locals by having a total of $130 bar bill over two nights. |

So as some of you may know I'm getting a set of wheels done for Brown Beret and there has been a bit of a wait because we've been a bit busy with our customers stuff.
Then there was another wait while two lathe guys kept finding excuses not to cut the powder coat off the rims. No1 said they were buckled ( which they weren't) and No2 felt that the rim would be damaged when it's cut face was mounted back on the lathe. Finally our Polish prep guy snatched them both from out of the hands of the procrastinating lathe men and spent the next 5 hours manually abrading the rims then polishing them to a fine finish. They know look amazing. If that isn't a metaphor for what's wrong with this country I don't know what is. Bill X |
