Howard and I went to the Tank Museum's firework display (www.tankmuseum.org) on Saturday - highly recommended if you've ever wanted to see a bonfire lit by a Leopard tank. (Or, as it turned out, lit by a bloke with a match after whatever pyrotechnic magic they'd planned failed to work.)

Well, now it's official......I'm an old fart...I was on the metro in Montreal and a young girl offered me her seat....., fuck it.
I think it was the Russian hat I was wearing that did it,,my wife just laughed her head off

After a nasty experience with a pair of thoroughly knackered rental boots in Austria last year (feet moving one way, skis moving the other way), I splashed out on a pair of my own boots today. I haven't owned my own ski boots since moving to the UK ... I'm going to have to rearrange several rooms in order to find somewhere to put them

edit: oooh kitty that looks tasty. i made tricolore pasta with slow-cooked cabbage, onions, and pine nuts. basil, chili, and lashings of parmesan. mmmm winter food.

So a guy I work with had his £3000 pedal bike stolen from out of his shed during the storms so he put out a "condition" out on facebook saying that unless it gets returned in the next 48 hours I'm coming after you because I know who you are.
The next morning what should appear at the back of his house ?
Someone else's stolen scooter.
Weird...........

Nothing better than one's own properly fitting and comfortable ski boots. Conversely, little is worse than the alternative.

Current thinking is possibly Fri 12- Sun 14 Sept 2014. Get the August Bank Hol crowds out of the way and the schools back, but still have the weather. Am avoiding the main summer months for now as World Vespa Day is mid June.

Same basic idea as the Norfolk weekender - meet Fri morning, probably New Forest, group ride into Weymouth, stay on Portland Fri & Sat eves, group rides, pubs and scenic stops, Bovington on way back Sunday 8). Seems a way off but may need to secure some group accommodation and get people to commit with deposits etc. Group of 8-10 would be good.

That's me stuffed again then......i have the 8th to the 19th booked for our annual summer holiday. Probably be away somewhere again.

Just ridden up to the Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton. Fantastic. Have now done two peaks out of the Three Peaks Challenge! Nice!

Tom, Ed and I did a bit of wine-tasting in Napa over the last two days (hire car), and came back the long way round down Hwy 1 - eventually going up Mt Tamalpais. The panoramic view from the top (you have to walk/clamber the last third of a mile) was stupendous, better than from Mt Hamilton or Mt Diablo.

So do Mt Tam if you can!

i don't know if it's planetary alignment, time of year, time of day, or what, but i've been having lovely, trouble free rides to work for weeks now [*touches wood*]. the only blot on today's ride was a bloke on an L-plated 125 who was was suffering from a bad case of Must Overtake Woman syndrome - he'd blast past me on a straight only to slow to a crawl in the corners. luckily i ditched him soon enough.

now that Lawrence has replaced my faulty grip heater, i've got two toasty hands as well. riding to work on a crisp autumn morning - bliss

Packing to head up to the great white north once again. No word back from the shipper yet. I will check with him when I get back next Thursday.

We had a lovely drive in the rain to Brighton yesterday to see some art and visit the Scooter-Wear shop in Hove which didn't go well.
No clothing for ladies, no Corazzo and it was all ( high-end) Belstaff stuff so we vacated. Shame because it was a pain in the arse to find.
The art was average so we spent the rest of the time visiting the Lanes pointing all the tat in the shop windows.
Sadly the Mod Shop no longer sells Vespa mugs so we vacated that as well.
However we did find the best sausage shop of all time so we bought lots.
They even did Marmite sausages. Nice.
