Modern Vespa

I spent the weekend at my Dads down in Christchurch battling manflu and taking in the devastation from Friday nights storms. Today I've been beaten by manflu and have been relegated to the sofa.

Ironically I rode the GTV to work most of last week.....probably caused the manflu.....lol

I place the blame for the evil throat thing I had all last week on scooting around Dungeness in a gale. Hope you're out enjoying the ride again soon!

I used to hate those biker T-shirts with "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THE BITCH FELL OFF" on the back, until I saw the women's version: "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THE BITCH JUST PASSED YOU"

I find those t shirts quite useful. The addition message is "steer clear, I am a collosal fool".

I had to return some Bentley wheels to a rather large property in Essex today.
It was one of those brand new soulless faux mansions built to look like an original one.
Even in 50 years it's still going to look contrived and cold and fake.

Oddly enough the driveway entrance was devoid of lions,dogs and horse heads this time but it did have a buzzer and electric gates which said a lot.

It just goes to show that you can't create nostalgia no matter how much cash you have.

It would have passed for a pretty good Best Western.

They are cool, especially when you kidnap one and take it around the world sending postcards as you go.

I do believe I purchased my little buddy at the local Target store so if you feel like traveling with him, flick the bugs off him and take him with. He surely would love the company.

Ah, you're just spoiled having grown up surrounded with so much history, and 'Knights this', 'King's that' and 'Royal the other thing'.

For those of us who grew up in the colonies, all you need to do is throw up a McMansion with a gate and a little ivy and it looks like Downton Abbey.

I had a bit of a set to with one of the owners of these nouveau places once on the way back from the pub (set in deepest Hertfordshire and walkable home, just along dark country roads with zero traffic). In the past it wasn't unusual to grab a lift home with someone driving back along the same road. So when a car pulled up along side our party, I assumed this was what was happening.

In short, because I was three sheets to the wind and was used to people actually being friendly and not arseholes, I told the driver that we were perfectly alright for a lift thanks, enjoying the night air and wasn't it a pleasant evening, whereas it took him quite a while to communicate that he wasn't offering me a lift but was in fact part of local neighbourhood watch and wanted me to account for my actions in walking down a public road which he was patrolling in his Mercedes.

He seemed, really, really angry at being treated like a minicab driver touting for business. And we couldn't stop laughing because I had too many beers. Eventually he drove back to his mansion with the auto gates and the concrete lions after we carried on laughing at him.

Do they wear pointy hats and have names that are also emotions

They have strangely coloured dome shaped heads with windows in the front....

Kate - I'd buy that for a Dollar.

I spent yesterday at a Fiction Writing Course run by Woman's Weekly. I cannot begin to describe how much fun it was.

I went to bed early last night. I debated the beer but my pillow won. If my mattress truely is a "beautyrest", I should look like a glowing goddess this morning.

Checked the mirror, hair staining up and face puffy. Never known a goddess to have dragon morning breath. Oh well. I tried

I found an amazing road today. I left the house at 1pm and rode to Suffolk and back. 150 miles and now tired and freezing. The road was from Great Dunmow in Essex to Haverhill in Suffolk, as recommended by Ride magazine. Lots of lovely place names that only rural England can have, such as Steeple Bumpstead, New England, Abbess Roding, Finchingfield, Cornish Hall End, Sturmer - the list goes on. Lots of bikers out there too.

Oh, how lovely! Weather was gorgeous today but I was doing something early afternoon, so spent the morning being good and washing the bike while I had the time and the sun.

Danced until 12.30am without getting pissed and only had about 7 hours sleep....knackered now but great night. Working tomorrow all day.....

I did all the house hold stuff this morning then drove up to Hitchin to catch up with an old clubbing friend then off to Stansted to collect Genie from her skiing holiday.

It would have been an ideal day for ride though and I plan to make up for my inability to get the BV out of the garage by "doing a long one" on March 29th.

Well, you've got to have goals havn't you.

Replaced the tax disk on the honda today, and while I was at it I thought I might as well see if the thing will start after 3 months in the gutter outside my place.
Started, straight away, first push no dramas, purrs like a baby. I must put some miles on it this year, still only 1300 mile from new, 3 years ago

If you are ever about to sell it Terry, please give me first refusal (as long as it isn't tomorrow!)

Lovely 'scorchio' day today - T-shirt, shorts and sandals, yes even for riding to the shops.

Did lots of gardening, nearly ready to plant out loads of veggies. It's not as trivial as it may sound, as all the productive ground has to be made cat-poo proof. Just one square inch of bare earth can accumulate enough cat-poo in a day to make one think a large lion has laid some scat...

If it is today, I'll have it. Otherwise ask Doug first!

Sorry darlings, half the guys over on maxi muppets have their name down for it. To be honest' I don't think I'll sell it.
I'll always want the convenience of a scooter to pop to the shops/gym/days out etc, and the Honda does all of these very well, I would pay a fortune on another new scooter that will end up parked in the gutter with just as many low miles in 3 years time.
Now where do I book it in for an MOT, never had a scooter long enough to have it MOT'ed ha ha ha
