I love Vespa's. Love, love, love em! (You get the point). Had a 100 Sport and a P200E in the 80's.
So after a 20+ year break from scooting, I finally decided it was time to ride again. My heart yearned for an old school scoot.
I searched high and low - almost landed a Lambretta Li 150 (long story), eyeballed a Rally 200 and a few P200E's, even a Stella or two. I could not decide on a model.
I was out one day and saw this sleek black modern scooter with a Piaggio badge. Turns out it was a BV 500. I was intrigued.
Six more months of trolling Scooter Finds and I was still undecided. I had convinced myself that classic was the way to go, but the image of the BV kept floating around in my mind.
Then I saw her picture, a gleaming silver example of Italian luxury. A BV 250! And it was only 4 hours away. I had to test drive it at least.
So I headed out with a trailer in tow (just in case...). Five minutes of test driving and I was hooked. Needless to say, I brought her home and have no regrets.
Fifty miles round trip to work each day, smiling all the way!
I will someday get that classic scoot to toil over, ride with my parka on and reminisce the glory days. In the meantime I'll be happy to be riding again.
Cheers!
