Quote: Western US states are baking in an extended heat wave, with temperatures threatening to break the all-time high recorded on Earth. In Phoenix, Arizona, the mercury hit 47C (116F) on Friday, and in the desert of Death Valley, California, the thermometer approached 51C. |

I have a script that checks the current temperature in downtown Tempe. When I left work the temp was 113°, less than predicted. So when I was on my way home, and felt the extreme heat on my arms, I checked.
It is fortunate for me that I don't have a long commute, and I was wearing my evaporative vest. A friend travels 20+ miles on his bike, with little more than a soaked mesh jacket. |

Take any scooter, motorcycle or car with an external temperature readout, set it in the direct summer sun for a while, and you will get a fairly high reading. The BV is certainly no exception.

My bet is that it depends on where the temp sensor is. In cars its usually in the bumper which means after it sits in the sun for a while the temp is about 5 to 10 degrees hotter than ambient. I have no idea where the sensor is on the BV but I bet its sheltered behind the front cowling or int he head set itself. If so, it might take a couple of miles before it registers close to ambient.

Start drilling for your own water. IMHO.
I have two friend who just moved to Mesa AZ. They want me to move there. I think I will wait a bit now. |
