I heard some really interesting stories at Vespa Dallas today. Other than it was nice to walk in and Diane was surprised to see me walking and after I put a death grip on her right hand in a handshake ... well her squeeze was harder than my squeeze ....

That a bunch of my fellow MP3 riders had been emailing or calling Mike telling him NOT to give me my scoot OR the keys to the scoot.

Well rest at ease friends of mine. I got both, keys and scoot ... scoot is under my car port. Keys is on the key hook by the door. LoL

But I like to thank all that didn't want me to ride again until I was well enough to do so.

So here is the plan ... that I had already initiated before I heard the horror stores from vespa dallas had gotten all of that correspondence, geez, I didn't know I was a concern to all those friends .... a friend is going to take my scoot home with them and park it in their garage so it doesn't sit under a carport unguarded.

After surgery on my shoulder, July 11, I will be in rehab / hospital for a month, then rehab in my house or I will ride the handitran to rehab every day. Not until I can ride again ... temptation .... yeah, it will be there. I wonder if it would be anything like quit smoking, if I would go back and smoke ???? Well I quit in 73, cheated once at a German Officers' Club ... but didn't start back smoking again.

So please give me a break ... I will be fine, wishing to ride again will be just that ... a wish ... until I am fully healed and the doctor releases me from his care ... then I will ask some scooter riders in the Metroplex ... to go with me on a ride. My first time out, I don't want to go alone. Maybe the second time, but not the first time ...

I have no plans (other than maybe sitting on my scoot just to see how it feels) - that you need to ask George, he rode it up my driveway to the carport ... he mentioned to me how it felt.

He like that I raised the front of my OEM seat up about an inch, feels more like a bucket seat ... and a few other things I had Mike at Vespa do for me.

Now listen (friends of mine); I may miss riding my scoot, but I am not going to ride it until I'm 110% fit to ride.

Besides, someone is going to take it and park it in their garage, cause after my shoulder surgery, I won't be returning home for a couple of months and the scoot sitting under the carport would not be a good thing.

But thanks ya'll ... scoot is home, I am home ... rain cover is on the scoot, every thing is cool. Well it is hot in Texas ... but not the humid 104 we had here yesterday. but hot.

Got home at 6pm. Did not stop after dropping you off. Google map says 3 1/2 hours. Took me 4 and 1/2 hours. Its does not allow for the construction and Dallas Forth traffic. Hope after I go back and get my scooter, that is the last time I have to drive in that mess. I am just a small town boy. Nice meeting you. George and Sandy

Yeah, Dallas and Fort Worth (Metroplex) is one big construction area. Good thing you didn't have to go just north of the DFW International Airport. I would hate to see that during rush hour.

I don't know what website will be able to tell you where the worse of the traffic is ... so try not to return during normal rush hour. It just isn't pretty here.

If you want to get that umbrella I used to keep the sun off George as he was loading and unloading scoots ... go to aerostich.com, it was $32 and it seemed to help keep the heat of the sun off George. It has a sun protection rating of UPF 50+ ... it is by a company called ShedRain.

I looked out the window here and saw this big black lump with a rain cover over it, then remembered "oh yeah, Funky is home."

Sunday, since the temp is suppose to be lower, I'll go out and look at what Mike did to my scoot. Some of it is internal, not so sure that I want to take panels off just to see what Mike did for right now. When later after surgery, the people of rehab wants me to use my arm more; this would be a good way to do just that ...

I was surprised at the number of spider webs that was on that scoot. I wonder what it might look like behind the panels. There is a natural remedy to chase spiders away, I'll have to find it and get them off my scoot. No since to give them a free ride to some place else.

And it was finally good to meet you and Sandy. Hopefully, later we will be able to ride together.

Yeah, I couldn't thank them enough while they were with me. Even treated them to eat at TGIF before taking me and my scoot to the house.

I would like to thank those of you (if you did) contact vespa Dallas about stopping me from getting my scoot back. I know you only had good intentions.

But I know my limitations. I have surgery on the 11th; I am looking forward to it. Following intense rehab for 28 days. After that I don't know if followup rehab will be in my home or I can show up daily to an out patient rehab to continue my strengthening for the next 6-9 months.

But until I get a release from my doctor surgeon I won't ride before that happens.

But I can always "dream" of riding .... and my dreams have had me riding again; so it gives me hope.

At pre-operation testing, I already received my arm band ... I'm ready ...

Thanks all for your support.

Besides, I do have or have had some other MP3 riders in the metroplex wanting to go with me on my first ride ... so I look forward to that.

One thing I learned all over again driving to San Diego and back this week and last: Texas is stupidly, stupidly big. Just ridiculously, insanely, fuck you big. Nothing says blargh like spending an entire day crossing a single state.

The sun has risen, the sun has set ... and here we are still in Texas yet.
Welcome to the Lone Star State. Come sit and rest awhile.

I pulled the cover off the scoot cause I needed to get something out of the pet carrier. Once I did that, I sat on the OEM seat. OH, did that feel so good.
Still couldn't reach out to the handlebar with my right hand.

But in due time, that will become easier with the shoulder replacement happening on July 11.

But the seat was really comfy. And it is an OEM seat. EMT put about 7k miles on that seat before I got it and it was well worked in.

But sitting on the scoot. That brought back memories of riding it to Jackson MS; Scooter Cannonball from Moody to Abilene TX; and the three twisted sisters ....

Ever been in a situation where you can't wait for something to happen, but you can wait ... so now I'm in a hurry up and wait again.

Oh the feel of my scoots seat. NICE !!!

OK, so I covered it back up and went into the house ...

I was out of town on vacation with my mother, sister, and best friend for 10 days. With my history, I should have posted something here before I went offline. The ladies on the VTwinMama board panicked when I disappeared. They were even calling local hospitals!

We took a cruise on the Alaska Inside Passage. Saw a lot of bikes in Juneau, despite the fact there are only a few miles of road to ride on! You can only get there by boat or plane!
