I would just polish it up lightly (no mirror sheen needed) and put new bearings, seals in it. Would probably replace the crank/con-rod or at least the bearings.

after eyeing that intake port a bit I might go full circle crank and reed valve manifold with it. Can only mean more performance if that's your desire.

This would be horrible overkill.

Put in a new crank and you'll be fine.

Huh? Why?

OP, I recommend getting the cases media blasted with glass. Then build it up as a rotary engine. It will work just fine for you.

Glad to know they will be usable!

I'm not a fan of glass beaded cases for one reason: They end up looking glass beaded. Some like that look, but if you do it on permanent mold alloy parts, they end up looking sand cast. An alternative I've used (professionally) is acid based aluminum brightener. The harsh stuff that you can't breathe, and says to rinse within seconds. You need to protect the bronze parts, though, and that can sometimes be tricky. Duct tape will work.
