Another vote for a sticker.

Up here in New England, I was surprised by all the MV stickers I saw on vehicles, until I realized they were "Martha's Vineyard" not "Modern Vespa" stickers.

Or could have been that contingent of Maldivians that moved to New England.

It's subtle. That reminds me -- I need to cut the size of it down somewhat.

IMHO the ghosted script is currently the right size. It's subtle and more of a discovery element.

They shipped from the vendor yesterday. FedEx says I'll have them by Saturday. If things go well (i.e. they get here and they don't suck) I'll make them available by Monday.

T-Shirts are several orders of magnitude more difficult, because of the size/gender/style preferences of a diverse but not very large community. Either that, or it gets farmed out to a T-Shirt fulfillment service that siphons most of the money out of the community and provides little in return.

It's kind of a no-win situation.

What about going through somewhere like Cafe Press and letting them deal with all the headaches?

It's certainly possible, though never, ever Cafe Press -- their quality is so horrible that I could never bring myself to make people pay for such crap. But there are many T-shirt fulfillment places to choose from. My main objection is that the price per shirt is high enough that it's really difficult to justify adding any margin to that for MV. So even if 100 people bought a T-shirt, MV might get $200 out of the deal, while the fulfillment shop would get $2500.

In my mind, that's $2500 that's been taken out of the community. Given that very few of us are rolling in the dough, those 100 T-shirts probably also preclude the purchase of other merchandise (patches and whatnot) that have a more direct effect on MV's bank account (and thus our ability to pay the server bill).

It really doesn't seem like a worthwhile trade off to me. Less hassle, but so little actual benefit.
