So . . . are they garbage because they're garbage . . . or garbage because of where they're manufactured?

They are and look like garbage regardless of where they are made.

metal is not really a good material to rest your dirty feet on. Rubber is much better for that. Metal will not provide much grip and will scratch.

As a result there are no "top shelf" suppliers, all you get is those selling sparkle with no substance. As for style, these became "popular" on bodges to the point were some people think it actually looks good, and I guess it kind of does if you don't plan to use the bike.

Nope just trying to help the man out. Like Patrick said, stainless floor runners are a bad idea and really devalue the bike in my book. If the OP ever goes and ties to sell the scooter people will think his scooter is a nammer. Even though it is probably a P. There I said it again, nammer, as in coming from Vietnam. And no that is generally speaking not a good thing. There is definitely a pattern there. A well worn one.

I used to think the Vietbodges looked good. But after seeing a few up close and personal they just look clownish and cheap to me.

And I agree, if it were to rain on you, it would not provide any traction. not safe in my book.

I agree they look trash & not safe for foot grip.
Some folks like them . . . plenty don't.
I don't.
