Hi All,

New to this forum, so please be gentle...........

Have just sold 1986 Harley Softail for various reasons and looking for something a bit different and was thinking of the Gilera Fuoco 500ie. Not sure if this model is available in the US or not but I believe has the same engine as the MP3500.

Just wondering about reliability of engine and what would be regarded as high mileage on one?

Tha
nks,

Tony.

I can't say for sure, but it seems like I've seen others posting that they've got over 50k on theirs and still going strong. Now I don't know for sure if it was a 250, 400 or 500. I've got 12k on my 250 and have never had any problems with the engine.

The Fuoco is known in America as the MP3 500. Not to be confused with the MP33 500 in Europe, which has the same body style as the 250 and 400...

I have almost 30,000 miles on my Fuoco. With proper maintenance, it should last at least that many more. Probably longer, but at that point I will consider my investment well paid off.

Thanks for replies.

I am looking at one with 14000 miles and a service history, so reckon I should be ok.

It is a Fuoco and looks the same as CubsKing99's avatar.

They are very rare here in Ireland, so am having to get it in the UK, so just trying to put my mind at ease. Haven never ridden one so hope I will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Tony.

I think you will be happy with it. This is the first bike I've ever owned, and even with my weak riding skills I have found it to be absolutely amazing in adverse weather conditions such as wind gusts and heavy rain - not that I ride in those on purpose, but I ride it to work and every once in awhile you get caught in unexpected weather.

I recommend looking at the first post in this forum about the hose issue, since it applies to your bike. Something to check if you do end up buying it.
