It appears we have the hard part covered.

Now all we need is for someone to step up and point this crowd in the right direction (i.e. send out PMs to all those who have pledged support, get a shipping address from Amber... and of course, place the order for the scooter).

I don't know about anyone else, but I love the smell of altruism in the morning. It smells like... kindness.

I can coordinate the collection of funds. PM me for details. I can take contributions via PayPal or by cheque or money order, I can then forward the total to Amber and Brenna in whichever form would be best for them.

I will cover the cost of any fees charged by PayPal so that Brenna gets the full amount donated by Modern Vespa members.

But I'd like to suggest that instead of sending donations to the family piecemeal, that we find a vendor that sells the make/model of scooter that was stolen (I can help with that). Then you collect the donations from those who have made pledges here on the thread.

Once everyone who wants to, has donated, let's see where we are vis a vis the actual purchase price of the scooter (including shipping to the family).

SDG has offered to make up any difference between the donated total and the actual amount. If there is a big gap between the collected donations and the actual final price, I'll be happy to take up some of the slack too.

But in the end, I think it would be a wonderful gesture if Brenna's family could receive a replacement for what was taken from her... and not have to count donations and nobody be sure if it was enough to cover the cost.

This blows. The same thing happened to our son who had his bicycle stolen from the front porch last week he uses it often to go to work so now it's going to cost a lot more.

This ideas sounds like a good one. The type of scooter is available from a few different retailers online, but I haven't been able to find one in the colour that Brenna had. Several vendors on Amazon have it for less than $300.00 with free shipping, but not in the cool turquoise colour.

Before anyone sends me any funds, I want to make sure that all of the details with Amber are nailed down. I will contact all of the folks who have PM'ed me at that point.

Everything is go to start on the quest to replace Brenna's stolen scooter. I have all of the contact information from Brenna's mom, and I am going to order the scooter via Amazon.com so that it will be delivered to Brenna's house.

For those of you who have offered to send scooter related gifts to Brenna, I have permission from Amber to provide you with their address so you can send those directly.

The cost for the scooter will be $249.99.

I will now PM those of you who have offered to help with my email address so that you can send funds via PayPal.
